And Argentinians wonder why we British say he is unelectable when it comes down to any General Election. All they have to do is look at some of his comments and it is self explanatory.

Sorry you cant have it both ways.
Get aid and defence from the UK but aid criminal activity and massive tax evasion against the state that aids you strangely that doesnt work.

Their activity is confined to the legal activity of off-shore accounts which is perfectly legal. There is a whole branch of British law that is dedicated to such activities namely Equity and Trusts. If a person engages in tax avoidance that is legal, tax evasion is not. I note your PM is being castigated for using them vis-à-vis his father. Surely they would have been remiss not to use them in view off the absolutely punctuative taxation levels they would have been subject to? Some of your biggest entertainers, including the Rolling Stones are registered off-shore. Remember the Beatles, “The Taxman ”which was a response to the Super Tax that they were subjected to. Should those that have received the greatest benefit be subject to a greater obligation, of course but such a duty shouldn't impose the unbearable.

#3 makes a good point and highlights the issue of BOTs - are they self-governing, or do they have to conform with what the UK demands? And if they don't toe the party line, their government is dismissed and direct rule happens.

That's not a good advert for democracy. If what they are doing is legal, why the threats of direct rule? If what they are doing is illegal, why not stamp it out?

But, it's more than that. Even if it is legal tax avoidance - that can be immoral and lacks transparency. Why should a section of society avoid paying their share of tax? “We are all in it together”.... Unless you have a trust fund that cuts your tax bill. Just ask Mr Cameron or Mr Osborne.

The main problem here is perhaps not what goes on in some B.O.T.s - after all they do need to comply with UK rules on democracy, openess of financial dealings etc etc - all part of the deal of being a B.O.T. and having the UK speak up for you at the UN - if you run a fiddle etc - then yes after warnings you can expect direct rule - as per Turks & Caicos a few years ago.

I suspect the main fault - as Pres Obama points out - is WEAK FEEBLE International Laws of money laundering and moving etc that encourage it.

Reducing your tax bill by avoidance - perfectly legal - and if you can afford it then these folks pay to have it done! Just that the rest of us are perhaps envious as we do not have the big money in the first place!!

Tax Evasion - Illegal - and if being done - shut those places down, takeover the funds and impose direct rule by all means. But only where actions have been Illegal.

Main job is to sort out the rules in the countries where people make their money in the first place so they have to pay tax there and cannot move it out beforehand.

Corbyn does need to think - but that would perhaps not be easy for him to do!

So, if the call is for “direct rule”, that rather suggests that the UK does not have “direct rule” now. Which is what I've been saying :-)

In my humble opinion,..., most, if not all..., honest working taxpayers in this world consider BOTH tax evasion and tax avoidance by the Richy Rich's to be bad, corrupt, debauched, depraved, dishonest, dissipated, dissolute, graceless, impure, indecent, iniquitous, lewd, licentious, nefarious, obscene, rakish, reprobable, saturnalian, shameless, sinful, unchaste, unclean, unethical, unprincipled, unscrupulous, vicious, vile, villainous, wicked and just plain wrong...

As such..., both should be equally illegal..., everywhere...

But I guess it's easier for the turnips to...:

Yes Think, most fair minded people agree. But there are other aspects to this. For instance KFCs hotels and the scandal of Arg government payments for empty rooms when no one was staying there. In that way she accrued millions of taxpayers money dishonestly.

Why not make an issue of that, its closer to your (alleged) home than Sheilas teashop!

Direct rule now for the Cayman Isles and British Virgin (or slapper) Isles! It seems that most commentators on this site are so out of touch with feeling inside the UK - while these expats who avoid UK tax sip their gins on sun loungers and read the Daily Mail, you don't care to appreciate the anger felt by missions of UK-based Brits at the way that 'BVI and Cayman Isles' “nos toman el pelo” in the name of 'self-determination'.

I'll try to explain it to you in very simple terms.
This man presides over one of the World's biggest Tax Havens.
Billions and billions of tax revenue dissapear each month in this Tax Havens.
Lost tax revenue that has to be covered by honest tax payers all over the World.
Assuming you are a honest woman..., you possibly paid for that very elegant silk tie of his...

He is more familiar with Sheilas Diner where they serve weak coffee and pies with mould on them. Thats, of course, when he isnt hanging out as a bar fly in the Combined Services.

And, he defends the most crooked country on earth where lying and scrounging is held in high esteem.

He doesnt pay any tax either, just a layabout.

Does anyone else recall some years ago when Thicko was kicked off MercoPress? Banned no less..

He re-appeared a few days later having actually phoned the management .. I imagine his plea for de-banning involved the fact that he really lived in Scotland or somesuch non RG place, he was just shitstirring and without said shit stirring MecroPress would be a very quiet and lonely place..... ie he was good for business.

Think - if places like Br.V.Is are so corrupt as you imply- how come the OECD gave them the same rating for open finance trading as Germany-UK- etc?

Give you another example of what you feel is wrong - take a typical Brit - opr I suggest German or other national - who becomes a merchant navy qualifies sea Captain. he then spends 2/3rd to 2.6th of every year living and working outside the UK. away from his home and family.
He gets his wages paid by his employers - who are not UK based - into say a Channel Island Bank as he is non tax domiciled in UK by Law as he spends below the prescribed time living there.
He then transfers 2/3rd of that wage to his UK bank so his family can live - and he pays UK taxes on that 2/3rds.
The other bit he pays the lower tax on in the Channel Islands, and the family then invest the balance offshore - they may use some for overseas holidays or whatever. Buy any subsequent bit that they transfer to UK becomes taxable of course.
Has he broken the law then?
    Of course not.
He has just taken normal sensible advantages of what is available to him.

    Jupppp...., I recall that episode...

A zealot employee from MacriPress send me suddenly an email full of insults, pornographic pictures and blocked my account...

I mailed the owner, Mr. G. M. that, in my humble opinion, his private company had all the right to block my account as they saw fit but... that the sending of such an unprovoked, offensive email was a breach of every journalistic rule and completely unacceptable....

His response was quick, surprised and apologetic... He asked me to please open a new account and continue with my quality posting...

I refused to open a new account.... I liked the name THINK and I wanted it back...

Some hours later THINK was unblocked....

    In fact, quite the opposite.
