The United States Government has cautioned Caribbean countries offering a Citizenship by Investment Program (CIP) to be extra cautious about who they give their passports to, and ensure that recipients have no terrorist or crime links. It gave the advice, in a statement issued by the US Embassy in Barbados, even as it made it that it was not advising regional countries on whether or not they should offer economic citizenship. So why has not the British government got involved in this,

why did the Americans not speak to the British government first,

they may have, but no indication here,

    Still,
perhaps they informed the EU first...

    Are they British Passports...?
They are dealt with in the UK...
I'd be tempted to tell the US to mind there own business and account for the tens of thousands of illegal and unscreened immigrants they easily pass through their own borders each year...

The US used to be a force to be reckoned with...
Then we witnessed how vulnerable they became when terror was brought to their shores...then we witnessed how ineffectual they became as a world leader by their failures in Iraq and Afghanistan...
..and their comedy of errors...Where are those WMD's...
I wouldn't be surprised nowadays if the BOT's themselves told them to fcuk off...

No one takes the Yanks seriously anymore....

Nobody takes Obama serously. I'll give you that. Regardless the UK must do what we tell it or lose our support. They know that as well as you do.

    @5 Lucifer

The US has the right to voice its concerns, but these BOTs all have their own elected governments, who will decide for themselves whether to take any notice of you or whether to ignore you.

And if they ignore you what will you do? The answer is nothing, because they ARE BOTs, and any attack on them is an attack on the UK. Which wouldn't go down too well.

After all, the UK could kick the US military out of the UK (you have important bases there), and kick the US off BOTs that allows the US military to increase its global reach.

And then to really p!ss you off we could offer the lease them to Russia instead, increasing their reach at the same time the US's reach is diminished. And then we could use our Veto on the UNSC to stop any US initiative in the future.

But none of that will happen. Why? Because the US isn't stupid enough to cut off it's nose to spite it's face, especially against one of the few country's in the world that has been willing to stand and fight side by side with you.

But keep on dreaming that your country can do anything it wants. It can't.The UK doesn't need the US's support nearly as much as the US needs the UK's support.

Remember when the US begged the British to go and fight with you in Syria? But the UK said no, and lo and behold the US backed off going into Syria. Afraid to go it alone? Or more likely realising that it was a stupid idea that would have seen far too many coffins covered in US flags. It took the British say no to make your politicians wake up, smell the coffee, and realise that not every problem can be solved by war.

Whilst the US is still a superpower it's not nearly as powerful or as influential as you believe it is.

The Russians have run circles around you for the last few years making you look like amateurs.

More realistically, the US & UK will take a more pragmatic approach.
”... there has been concern in Antigua and Barbuda (A&B) about the government’s recent decision to remove Iraq from the list of countries whose nationals are barred from obtaining citizenship under the twin-island nation’s CIP.”
The US & UK (separate) Customs & Immigration services will more likely take a dim view of A&B CIP passports, allowing more rigorous checks and possible refusals of entry, thereby devaluing these CIP passports.
The US merely expressing its opinion, at the appropriate level, which is the local embassy.
In my opinion, A&B should check their not scoring an own goal...
Also, A&B have the right to make their own decisions, even if advised that decisions are inappropriate.

    not my argument,
    but,
    6. Dream on. The UK is nothing without the USA
is not technically true, and yet in some ways true,

but then to be fair, the American rely also on us,
two peas in the same pod,

if Britain got of its lazy big fat side and invested in the UK did our own thing,
built our own thing , with our very own expertise rather than selling all and sundry to others,

then perhaps we would be more self reliant than we are,

but make no mistakes the Americans and British need each other as much as each other needs itself.

    just my opinion.
    back later.

Whatever luci is, it's not what she claims. Luci gather strength from trolling. Don't provide fuel to pride less wonders. Everyone knows luci is an asshole only luci does not see it. She refuseS to buy toilet paper.

True and it probably was, my email has been out there forever. But it was fun.

I called that DC Bates realtor telling him I am looking for a place in the area for a year. He sounded like the poster boy for an Ozark mountain genetic experiment gone wrong, terribly wrong. Luci is far from a bright star, but that Bates can't be him. I'm telling you, he talked slow and lumbering. I think his bald head was in the sun too long and singed one too many brain cell. I could picture his eyes rolling like Carson when he spoke.

I'll say this Voice, MP is a loon nest. They all seem to come here to be someone they're not. Something I will never understand ...national or ethnic pride.....which is nothing more than genetic chance from getting laid. Go figure.

Is the headline even correct? It says BOTs but the places mentioned are all independent countries! And aren't citizens of BOTs also British citizens? I would have thought the UK government would object to them selling citizenship in that case.

http://en.mercopress.com/2016/04/15/us-cautions-caribbean-bots-about-whom-they-give-their-passports#comment437712: Excellent. The vassals are revolting.

But I cannot help feeling that your efforts are wasted when you post to this British government run propaganda site. In this primary season and the coming general I think you could have more effect if you were to post your spiel to US media sites. Something like, “Hi, I'm a lard ass Limey and you Americans owe us big time.” Posts of this type might help to explain why, for instance, it is necessary for the US Navy to fly the patrols along the UK coast to keep you Brits safe.

I want to encourage more of you big ass Brits to reveal themselves to the American voter. If that were to happen I'm sure that the US would be out of NATO faster than you can say, “The Russians are coming!”

First you bumbling imitation of an American, you should specify South American. Then, you should be well schooled in knowing that the American military is far too integrated into NATO to give it up. Politicians can talk the talk all they want but then seldom ever walk the walk. You must be the Argentine Trump. If you're going to pretend to be an American, then act like a fucking American.

Are you pontificating about historical matters again. When under another guise you proved you didn't have the prerequisite historical knowledge of Californian fifth grader.
“Regardless the UK must do what we tell it…The UK is nothing without the USA ” Here is another instance where you are shown to be absolutely wrong.
“Reagan, yielding to advisers who regarded Britain’s insistence on retaining sovereignty over the sparsely populated islands as a colonial anachronism, urged the prime minister to show magnanimity rather than force the invading Argentine troops to surrender,…But the memo said Mrs. Thatcher rejected the president’s appeal for talks three times, becoming more emphatic each time. “Britain had not lost precious lives in battle and sent an enormous task force to hand over the queen’s islands to a contact group,” Mrs. Thatcher told him, adding a brusque reminder that Britain had been forced to “act alone, with no outside help,” in recovering the islands, an oblique reference to the American refusal to be drawn directly into the conflict on the British side.
Speaking before the final toll had been tallied — 255 British and 649 Argentine military personnel dead — the prime minister “asked the president to put himself in her position,” the memo said. “She was sure the president would act in the same way if Alaska had similarly been threatened.” The memo said the call ended with Mrs. Thatcher saying that the only acceptable outcome was for the Argentines to agree to withdraw without negotiation, which happened a few weeks later.”
