Doesn't Malacara have some dishes to wash, or something comparatively more useful to do ?

If Malcorra wants to do some confidence building on the “Malvinas Issue” then she will find a lot more of her audience in Port Stanley rather than wasting everybodys time in London.

How strange that the article said 'and again pointed out that ”Argentina is open to talk to everybody“' Last time I heard the RG government wouldn't talk to the Falkland Island Government which means there won't be any shift in the current position. The Falklands will remain British and the Malvinas will still be a mythical place.

    You say...:
“Doesn't Malcorra have some dishes to wash, or something comparatively more useful to do?”

    I say...:
You mean... Like meeting chubby Lord Price..., UK's Minister of State for Trade and Investment, just arrived to Buenos Aires to try to promote some juicy British trade with Argentina???

    Ps...:
Conspicuous that Anglo Business friendly MercoPress doesn't inform you Anglo Turnip posters of such official Anglo visits... and stuff...

Just another Rift to develop between the two countries. Clumsy weasel words in an attempt to disguise the real intent. One of those MOU efforts so popular in some quarters.

Actually I have no issue with Malcorra. I find her quite competent and feel sorry that she still has to represent the Malvinas Myth, but am thankful that it is deprioritised.

Even this government is beholden to a stupid constitution. They just don't let it overrule the country's interests.

The present RG regime has to give lip service to the myth if they want to stay in power.
Otherwise would be a bit like an Australian politician saying 'Gallipoli? It was 100 years ago... we lost... get over it...'
    Not going to happen...

No time for these people. we should now be putting pressure on Argentina to stop with this silly nonsensical claim They need us and our friends to get their county back on track and that should be made very plain to them that unless they put pen to paper revoking every single word of the claim. Or they can carry on wallowing in the same kind of crap they have been wallowing in for the past 70 years with help from us who can make it even worse for them.

If she brings up the matter of the Falklands/Malvinas on the occasion of her visit to London she should be directed immediately and politely to the self governing British Overseas Territory a couple of hours flight to the south east from Bs As.

The people there can talk for themselves and they are very well qualified so to do!

It's for internal consumption, she can say whatever she wants to in terms of what she would like to discuss. But in reality she will probably insert a sentence somewhere, to someone and say they had a very constructive discussion with a view to moving forward. None of which will be reported or minuted by anyone else but the official Arg. Gov. press. Just to keep the sheep happy.

”Argentina is open to talk to everybody“
    Is pretty unequivocal.
Thus they will be up for talking to the duly elected representatives of the people of the Falkland Islands.

Again worth reminding folks that the UN recognizes the right of self determination as fundamental and this applies to any people or Population , they use the term interchangeably.

discussions we are going to hold, but I'm not forecasting anything spectacular,

who are they holding talks with,
    what are they hoping for,
why not take it to the ICJ,

or do they really believe they are going to come away from Britain with billions in trade deals and the Falkland's thrown in for good measure,

they are even more deluded than CFK was.

“Most surely the issue will be part of the discussions we are going to hold, but I'm not forecasting anything spectacular.”

Same old, same old. The trouble with all these malvinas Muppets is that they present what they want to happen as fact. But that fits in with the overall malvinas myth. Once they started telling fibs there was no turning back.

How would Argentina feel if a neighbouring country declared that Argentina belonged to them, gave it a different name, tried to use force to gain control of it and then continued to harass, embargo, bad mouth and try and delegitimise the Argentine people and their right to exist?

Then they would have a right to complain.

Actually, there are/were several spellings. The original was Goorka.

” Even though in the 1890´s the British Army decided to use the spelling “GURKHA” other ways of spelling were used too.
After the Independence of India the Indian Army Gurkha units changed to use the old spelling “Gorkha.”

An old Mercopiss story on Gurkhas and Argies in 1982 . There have been other stories in the Argie press about the terror in some of their units on hearing that the Gurkhas were “heading” for them. Good psyops, actually.

@49 I seem to recall comments that the Gurkhas were monumentally annoyed that they were not allowed to take part in combat operations on land during the Falklands war. But that doesn't keep the Argentine rumour mill from the usual flights of fancy. I heard one argie say that the Gurkhas were sent ahead of the other UK units as carne de cañon when assaulting argie strongpoints because the “ingleses” were too cowardly to do so on their own.

The argies went so far as to develop and distribute to their media a list of the names of Gurkhas that were supposedly killed in the war but never recognised by the UK casualty numbers. A closer look at the Nepalese-sounding names reveals that they are things like place-names in North Korea and the Philippines, and the Nepalese themselves can't seem to identify any unaccounted-for Gurkhas. Fits in nicely with the argie claims that they sunk the carrier Invincible and discovered oil on the moon.

The argie capacity for invention in story-telling, whether in military matters or economic statistics, is certainly greater than their war-fighting prowess.

“Fits in nicely with the argie claims that they sunk the carrier Invincible”

Like the Super Gauchos that were supposed to be sent to the Islands to combat the Ghurkas. Corned Beef Kate said they had longer knives than the Ghurkas-must be true, a mate of mine heard her calling the task force to urge our 'brave boys' to turn back or be massacred by the Super Gauchos.

My theory is that the Super Gauchos wanted to go but Galteiri didn't give them horses that could swim across to the Islands.
