And why is this not done in Argentina?....at least in Mendoza and the rest of the western provinces. It doesn't get light here in the middle of winter till at least 8:30. Electric costs have risen dramatically and yet they just sit there sucking their thumbs. The new governor brought up the subject about a month ago...but as usual, nothing was done. Same old, same old....

“ The measure is adopted every year..”

They have been dithering on this.

Not smart enough to change to winter schedules, so they change the hands on the clock.

“Chile's government original idea was not to make any time changes this year, but growing complaints about morning darkness after 08:00 convinced the government to keep to the old system”

How I wish the 'children' who 'rule' Uruguay would listen to us. Apart from farmers (I suspect) nobody else wants it to remain dark so late in the morning.

But, according to the twat in charge of the tourism ministry it is to help our tourists. WTF is this person smoking? There are NO tourists until next season.

I am not sure why anyone in Chile is worrying about lower light at 0800. Nobody is awake there until 1030 AM anyway.

Thanks to daylight savings, in winter I get to walk home in the dark. However it is much better than going to work in the dark.

Thanks to the winter solstice, it is dark when I get up and it is dark when I go to bed and it is dark all night long. I expect the fooking government to do something about this.

All my children are in school at 8am as are most children in the country. But don't let reality interfere with your fantasy world of “Letrine America”.

@8 There is a difference between being at a site and being “ awake.” When I lived in Ñuñoa there were kleinbuses (all of them VW in those days) full of kidlets early in the mornings but none appeared to be awake, and there was no question that the drivers were very much still asleep. Not sure how much of that was due to the asphyxiation from the dreadful air pollution. (The Santiasco air basin is just another form of letrine).

Those children are more awake and more alive than you will ever be.
Don't ever leave your fantasy “Letrine” homeland .

Condorcito, did you read La Tercera today with its summary of the worsening air pollution in Chilean cities? That the number one worst air quality is in Chilito? Despite the pretensions, Chile is still burning wood for heating, just like in the 16th century, except now the air pollution is a whole lot worse.

“Diez ciudades suben sus niveles de contaminación ambiental”

The air in Chilean cities is simply, well, something of a letrine. And a large part of the reason I don't live there anymore.

Don't ever let your fantasy of a Chilean path to modernity outside of the realm of fantasy.

You seem to have wondered off topic again.
Typical of a fantasist like you.
