President Mauricio Macri on Friday made official the nomination of Susana Malcorra as a candidate to the post of United Nations Secretary General, underlining that the diplomatic experience of the Argentine foreign minister will contribute to provide creative solutions to the challenges faced by the UN organization. May 21st, 2016 - 09:23 am - Link - Report abuse 0Nope, she's not suitable. The Secretary General is supposed to be impartial. She's already made it obvious that she isn't. Remember when Ban Ki Moon was asked about compliance with UN resolutions. He responded that no member of the Security Council was in breach of any binding resolutions. Effectively cutting off the argie argument that the UK is in breach of up to 40 resolutions. What would Malcorra have said? If she seriously wanted to be considered she should have turned down her current post. Argieland's current posture and her advocacy are just insults to the Islands and the UK.
May 21st, 2016 - 10:14 am - Link - Report abuse 0Malcorra would be quite a good candidate if she didn't come from a country with such a dismal record of suborning, violating, disrespecting and misrepresenting UN resolutions.
May 21st, 2016 - 12:34 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Considering the utterly ridiculous nature and absurd behaviour of the UN and its secretaries-general, and Argentina's long record of even more absurd actions contrary to UN principles, Malacara seems like the obvious best choice.
May 21st, 2016 - 01:31 pm - Link - Report abuse 0She recently made an error of judgment in respect of Argentina's EEZ claims and had to be corrected by Ban Ki-Moon's office. Tut tut.
May 21st, 2016 - 02:40 pm - Link - Report abuse 0What the UN actually said,
''With regard to the recommendations in respect of the submission made by Argentina, it is recalled that, previously, the Commission had already decided that it was not in a position to consider and qualify those parts of the submission that were subject to dispute and those parts that were related to the continental shelf appurtenant to Antarctica ''(see CLCS/64, paras. 76 and 77 and CLCS/76 para. 57) And Paragraph 3 of UN Press Release from Ban Ki-Moon's office dated 28th March 2016:
http://www.un.org/press/en/2016/sea2030.doc.htm
http://www.un.org/press/en/2016/sea2030.doc.htm
I would imagine, given the poor showing The Malevolent Midget has shown so far, that Macri would be pleased to get rid of her.
May 21st, 2016 - 06:02 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Can't imagine the UK supporting her, even with the spineless Camoron in charge. Surely he isn't THAT stupid is he?
Susana Malcorra ,
May 21st, 2016 - 06:55 pm - Link - Report abuse 0can the UN get any worse.
In view of Argentina's failure to respond to the UN Security Council Resolutions 502 and 505 it seems to me that their candidate for the post of Secretary General should be denied forthwith.

May 22nd, 2016 - 10:13 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Anyway UK will veto her application. No one is saying it out loud but this will show how UK plays the long game.
Every time someone has complained that the UK doesn't seem to rebut or reply to every Argentinean provocation or comment..... they don't need to. They'll reply when they're good and ready and can exercise the largest impact.... like a veto.
Surely there will never be a UK secretary General, I mean the UN was founded to avoid war, or at the very least if war is deemed needed due to a threat, that it is a war with the consent of a worldwide coalition.
May 23rd, 2016 - 05:51 am - Link - Report abuse 0The UK has repeatedly gone to war when it pleases, ignoring everyone. There is no greater abysmal behavior for a country than that one.
As for Malcorra, I want her to win just to make the Anti-argies around the world even more gray and miserable.
Argentine Pope
Argentina UN secretary
Argentine World Best fooballer
Sports, Politics, and Religion, the three most important things in all cultures, and all of them and ARGIE at the helm? That would be hilarious and certain never to be repeated in World History.
@13. The very first UN secretary general was British. Whatever the UN was founded for, it didn't stop argieland from indulging in an illegal attack, invasion, occupation and war. There is no more abysmal behaviour. Especially the mistreatment of a civilian population. In 1982, argieland was guilty of innumerable war crimes, such as the imprisonment of civilians, including children, in a hall with no food provided and no protection against aerial bombardment and the siting of types of artillery between occupied civilian homes.
May 23rd, 2016 - 10:05 am - Link - Report abuse 0The UK is sovereign. It is entitled, under international law, to safeguard its citizens and its interests to the best of its ability. It is also entitled to protect such other people as circumstances dictate. As in 1939, the UK will always be prepared to stand alone if necessary against evil in the world. Unlike argieland, secret ally of nazi Germany and refuge for innumerable nazi war criminals.
That argie pope is an irrelevance and has already shown his bias by welcoming the K bitch on repeated occasions. As for football, it goes to show where argie capabilities lie. Not in the brain. Not in the hands, except when used to cheat, but in the feet. Confirming the similarities to monkeys.

May 23rd, 2016 - 10:58 am - Link - Report abuse 0Overall an excellent post, however I must protest about the term:
Not in the hands, except when used to cheat, but in the feet. Confirming the similarities to monkeys
That's a bit unfair on the monkeys! :o)
In 1939, the UK was part of the evil in the world. Sorry to break that fact to you.
May 23rd, 2016 - 01:08 pm - Link - Report abuse 0One of the major sources of oppression and imperialism in the world. WWII was in great part the UK's fault. Germany just wanted to be more like YOU.
The result of WWII was fair. Europe was destroyed and lost all their colonies, and Europe's nations never have recovered their former strength, which is a sigh of relief for 3 billion people in Asia, and 1 billion in Africa.
Of course, in 1939 Argentina was supporting the Nazis. And in 1940, and 1941, and 1942, and.....
May 23rd, 2016 - 01:47 pm - Link - Report abuse 0KepiTroll The result of WWII was fair.
60 million people killed in WWII and KepiTroll says this is fair. The Soviet Union and Red China colonised and enslaved much of Europe and Asia, and KepiTroll says this is fair.
Truly Argentine Logic and Morality.
@13 Tobias
May 23rd, 2016 - 03:23 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The UN Secretary General has no clout whatsoever. They can only advise. They also have to be unbiased, by which standard alone should put the Argentine nominee out of the running. So Argentina not at the 'helm' of politics, domestic or international.
As for 'your' Pope. He hasn't done anything but continue to cover up the rampant kiddie-fiddling that has been going on in the Catholic Church for decades (if not centuries). Hardly something to be proud of. So no, Argentina isn't at the 'helm' of religion.
And for sport. Yes you have good footballers, but that's all. Now there are hundreds of sports in the world and Argentina has a few good footballers, and a good tennis player. Again hardly something to be boasting about when other countries have far better sportsmen and athletes overall.
Lets put this in perspective. At the 2012 Olympics how many medals did Argentina win?
Argentina won 4, with 1 of them being of the gold variety.
The UK won 65, with 29 of them being of the gold variety.
China won 88, with 38 of them being of the gold variety.
The USA won 104, with 46 of them being of the gold variety.
Brazil won 17, with 3 of them being of the gold variety.
Jamaica won 12, with 4 of them being of the gold variety.
Hardly evidence that Argie is at the helm, is it? Oh and before you get all upset and start throwing your teddy in a corner it is a great achievement to be selected to compete for your country at the Olympic games, and a greater achievement to win a medal of any colour once there.
So in Sports Argentina is not at the helm.
So your statements are unjustified bragging about stuff that no one in their right mind would brag about.
Keep taking the medication, Tobias. Or is it still unavailable in your socialist Utopia?
In 1939, the UK was part of the evil in the world. Sorry to break that fact to you.

How many millions did the UK, and the other EUIANS assassinate and slaughter in 400 years of colonialism, then imperialism, and slave trade? In waging war and spreading disease? A fair bit more than 60 million.

Embarrassed about how dismal the state of sport is in Argentina?
I'm not surprised you are. But don't blame the athletes, blame all those peronist politicians who steal Argentina's wealth and it's future.
That is the real reason you are so angry. Going nowhere and you know it.
Oh and as always you resort to the tired cliche of 'the UK killed millions' during its empire building days. But there is no EVIDENCE that the UK killed millions of people. If you have actual evidence of the UK killing 'millions' of people please bring it on, otherwise stop exaggerating.
But it's amazing that when we bring up the military junta and the 30,000 Argentines they murdered you complain about us tarring you with the same brush despite not (according to you anyway) not being involved. The same is true about your ethnic cleansing of the native Amerindians. You remember them don't you? You even pretended to be one...once.
Hate to break this to you, Tobias, but there are no 400 year old people in the world. So if you can't be blamed for the actions of your ancestors (many of those who committed crimes 30-40 years ago and are still alive to be held accountable), then no one in the world can be held accountable for the actions of theirs.
You can't have it both ways. Now run along and cry in the corner about how terrible your life is, about how you have no future, and about how you will never have a future whilst you believe that stealing from your fellow countrymen is acceptable practice.
What are you going on about?
May 24th, 2016 - 01:33 am - Link - Report abuse 0First of all no one in Argentina gives a darn about the Olympics, where the countries you mentioned on the top medal counts counts are proven CHEATERS, from China, to Russia, to USA. Probably half their athletes are juiced, and have been caught many times. So imagine the ones that have not (probably 90%).
In the sports that matter, football, basketball, rugby, hockey, volleyball, Argentina is in the top 10 and often top 5 out of 200 plus nations. So if we are a failure, then loser England is... what??
FIFA (football)

So please spin this fact, Argentina with a fraction of the population of those many of those countries and a fraction of the funds, no lower than 6th in FIVE major sports played worldwide.
Yeah... sorry state when in the sports played by combined billions you are in the top 5 NATIONS of 200+.
Funny you call me on my hatred making me blind... :)
@22 Tobias
May 24th, 2016 - 07:10 am - Link - Report abuse 0As usual you're very selective.
It's amazing that you only say sports that Argentina is sort of good as are relevant, whilst blissfully ignoring those that you aren't.
So above when you stated that Argentina was at the 'helm' of sport you were lying. Argentina isn't at the 'helm' of anything. As I stated there are hundreds of sports, only a large fraction of them is represented by the Olympics, but you will ignore all of them because Argentina isn't good at them, and you couldn't possible admit that your country is good at something.
And that's what I find really amusing about you Tobias. Your blind devotion to a country that has failed so many times, and the fact that you believe that is something to be proud of.
I don't have any hatred, Tobias, you are projecting. I wasn't the one who was 'bragging'. I didn't say that the 'UK' was at the helm in sports.
It's amazing that you keep digging yourself deeper and making a fool of yourself.
A bit like that time a few years ago when you came on this site and 'bragged' about your town having a supermarket, like other towns and cities in all countries in the world didn't have them. Oh how we all laughed at that!
And how we laughed when you pretended to be a native Amerindian because you thought that it would somehow give weight to your 'argument', only for you to trip yourself up and the very next thread.
Or like the time when you stated that you wouldn't comment on any thread on this site relating to the Falkland Islands...and less than 15 mins later you were commenting on a thread relating to the Falkland Islands.
You tell so many lies, so often, changing your 'handle' so often, pretending to be other nationalities, that it's impossible for anyone to take anything you say seriously.
But it has been fun lighting the fuse and watching you go into orbit with your unsubstantiated bragging about such pathetic stuff.
Calling me out on 'ignoring' the facts, and you do the same thing.

@24 Tobias
May 24th, 2016 - 06:59 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I've not ignored facts. Nor have I made grandiose statements about how my country is at the helm of 'sports'.
Your country isn't at the helm of 'sports'. No country is. Some countries are better at some sports than others. Those are facts. And they aren't consistently good at those sports. Why? Because human beings are fallible.
And now that you've been proved to be wrong you fall back on your tired old racism. Isn't it getting old after all these years?
Oh well, keep posting Tobias, because each time you do you make yourself out to be a petty small minded fool.
Its a conspiracy against the UK and GB.
May 24th, 2016 - 07:10 pm - Link - Report abuse 0gulp.
Speaking of tired old racism, and our racist argie friends who make so much of what comes out of the UN, perhaps they can chew on this:
May 25th, 2016 - 03:47 am - Link - Report abuse 024 May 2016 – The United Nations human rights expert on racism today urged the Government of Argentina to take urgent measures to sustainably address the invisibility, marginalization and systematic exclusion of indigenous peoples in the country.
http://www.un.org/apps/news/story.asp?NewsID=54031#.V0UsJ5eYzIU
And here I thought their earlier genocides had killed off all of those indigenous people in Argentina.
