United States Secretary of State John Kerry announced high-level talks to ease tensions with Venezuela's populist government on Tuesday, just hours after he backed calls for a referendum that could force President Nicolas Maduro from office. Kerry said the talks would start immediately in Caracas and be led by Thomas Shannon, a veteran of U.S. diplomacy in the region. Attempts last year at dialogue between the ideological foes were stalled by Venezuela's deepening crisis. Read full article

It is a shame that while Kerry is doing the right thing, he is using a meeting at OAS to achieve it. In Latin America, the OAS is seen as a US tool and will achieve little until it is seen as fully representative of all states. The US is chock full of food. Ship it to Venezuela now with no strings and you will gain 50 years of goodwill. The EU and the rest of South America will follow. Please do it.

Eck, you have a very interesting open-the-door solution. One of these days MANY individuals may learn to follow your lead, accept the responsibility as ALL OF OURS to help each of us move forward, recognizing that any one of us may have fallen on hard times, sometime in life. One time, Mr. Ted Turner stood up to self-fund a new World Games, just because of some nation's Olympic boycott, or something. A few cans of food per box, add to that some cold-storage meats, cheeses, milks, and such, maybe even a few warm, home-cooked boxed meals shipped in aboard one of those large Chinese vessels from the Port of Mobile, all put together by a few hands working together from the good 'ole US, just might start such a Rush to the Rescue. Sometimes, it's up to us to help lead and Govern....

    Cheers!

So now the rest of the world has to fund and enable their communism? What a crock. Toss the garbage out...things will never change in those countries until you remove the scum.

    I feel sorry for Maduro.

All the good stuff has already been looted.

Ship for aid to only those who did not vote for Chavez or Maduro. The rest of the hood rats who believe the line of socialist drivel can go hungry until they wake up.
Read a news article the other day from VZ where a truck full of chickens got ambushed.
Driver was Ok, not so much for the chickens.
