If the United Kingdom votes to leave the EU next week, the move could ultimately lead to the bloc's disintegration, Germany's foreign minister has warned. Frank-Walter Steinmeier was speaking near Berlin after talks with his French counterpart, Jean-Marc Ayrault. Read full article

If the EU is so weak that losing a member will end it.... then Brexit is the right decision.

The scaremongering is bordering on the ridiculous.

Germany is running scared of us leaving the EU and its showing. 1 million German cars are exported to the UK a year. At least 75,000 French cars of just one car make are exported to to the UK a year. They are afraid that the UK leaving will decimate their car industry, we will be able to actualy put a tariff on any UK countrys cars into the UK making it impossible for the ordinary people to buy them. They could do the same to us, however they export far more to us than we do to them. It's a win win situation for us and a lose lose situation for Germany and the rest of the Muppet countrys in the EU. Why do you think they are all trying to get us to stay in? It's not because they love us they actually hate us.

I'm beginning to hope what he says is true.

If the EU collapses we'll all be in the same boat and then Europeans can build a new union in a manner they actually want.

    Single market - YES
    Federalism - NO

Wouldn't surprise me if early next week the EC offers the UK a carrot rather than the big stick they've been threatening them with.

I think this is a real consideration. The U.K. is one of the richest members and if France, Germany or the U.K. left it would set off a ripple effect they could ultimately break up the Union. If that is the case it would not be the U.K. outside of the biggest trading block in the long-term.

I voted yes to the Ted Heath 'promise' which turned out to be a pack of lies.

Who cares if the rest of this dreadful organization falls apart, not me, bring it on it can only help an independent UK.

But, as I keep posting, everybody who intended to vote LEAVE should do so and not fall for the 'it's all over now' from the remainders and not bother voting.

Only the count matters, make sure you vote LEAVE!

    @7 ElaineB

The EU has brought all of this about themselves by REFUSING to even consider changing.

Germany and France have brought this about with their arrogance at believing that they can dictate...and I do mean DICTATE...what other countries should do whilst they conveniently ignore the rules.

The EU is NOT a democratic institution. It was doomed to failure from the start.

If the UK votes to leave then they really only have themselves to blame. The UK will carry on, normal jogging.

And if Cameron and Osborne continue to try and threaten the British public then they'll be out on their ear, and we'll have someone whose main priority is to the UK and not to the EU.

And if the EU breaks up then so be it. Life will amazingly carry on regardless of whether there is an EU or there isn't an EU.

    Stop your campaigning...
All campaigning has been suspended following the shooting and stabbing of the Leeds MP...
Word is...that it was a crazy nationalist...
    Why am I not surprised...

@11 Too early to say exactly what the motive was. The murderer did shout 'Britain First' the name of a far-right nationalist party before murdering the left-wing M.P., wife, mother, campaigner, charity worker and humanitarian. The Britain First group who campaign against immigration and Islam in particular, deny any connection. Hard for them to claim that when their very existence incites intolerance in the ignorant.

    European block's disintegration
That's the way the cookie crumbles.

    The murderer did shout
    Has this been proved..
or will we all have to wait until it has been investigated.
