A public opinion poll from Ipsos, contracted and publishes by Reuters shows that United States citizens demand for an alternative to the two main presidential candidates has surged since the last election, underscoring the unpopularity of Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton. I can think of one who said he wouldn't but maybe will now.

It is the battle of the least hated now. There is plenty of time for Trump to insult just about everyone and Hillary is no longer facing prosecution so he can't keep falling back on that.

I see Leadsom has quit over her completely unacceptable jibe at May, for which she apologised. I happen to think it was blown out of proportion but it is rather comforting to know we still have some morals in our politics.

But one suspects that the world may well be a different place afterwards .
