A lot of people are fretting about the safety of the Rio Olympic Games. Zika fears, the notoriously unsafe water in Guanabara Bay, an Olympic venue so filthy that some rowers and sailors are planning to wear protective gear and of course violent crime. Read full article

The Opening Ceremony was nothing like the spectacular events of the last two Olympics but Brazil had to cut their budget and I think they did a fine job - apart from the lecture on the environment. The event should be about the games and if there was anywhere to cut the budget it was there.
