    Why would I like to meet my neighbors from the Malvinas Islands...???

    Piece of cake...

    I would I like to meet my neighbors from them Windblown Islands because the Engrish government is paying in full for my visit to one of the last anachronistic colonial enclaves in our planet...

    The important question is.... Are all drinks and tips included?

    Well that sounds very nice. Free trip for students; cultural exchange. Not at all an obvious attempt to get good social media publicity.

    ...”I want to meet my Falkland Island neighbours to discover the secret of how they and their British ancestors have maintained democratic rule for 320 years, because quite frankly my tin pot little nation has done nothing but nick land from natives and oppress the poor in all that time. Oh and it's ' 'neighbours ' for f*** sake , I wasn't educated in BA'

    I think you would be an ideal candidate. Just think, you could communicate directly with the Islanders and impress them with your command of the vernacular such as turnips, squatters, kelpers, usurpers and show them what they are missing by not being part of Argentina. Your polite and considerate attitude would be a beacon for Argentine friendship and tolerance.

    The benefit of Argentine land management would not be lost on them either.
    Instead of more sheep, you could suggest planting more minefields as adventure playgrounds and you could roam freely and unhindered in the still live Argentine mine fields.

    You could also explain to the Stanley residents the advantage of Argentine sanitation which does not require any expensive toilet basins. This maybe difficult to put-over, but with your charm, I am sure you would put up a good case.
    This would be your chance to bring the Falklands into the Latam sphere...just think how much this would gladden your heart....even Hepatia would approve !

    Who gives a fuck about The Lunatic Of Old Chew-butt? He is nothing but a bitter and twisted Peronist/K supporter whose time has gone.

    I thought we were going to look at the offers available to young persons, particularly from Uruguay to have a chance to make their own minds up about the Islands and the people they meet instead of being told a pack of lies by the murdering, seditious, commie bastards of The Broad Fraud, the so called 'government' of Uruguay.

    I hope the competition is a success and those young people who have a chance to visit the Islands do so with an open mind. From the UYU people I have met who have been to the islands they will come back with a completely different and positive view of them.

    Good luck in the competition to all those who enter. :o)

    “If I may...”

    That still doesn't explain why you support Argentine universal poverty, Evita K's rule by decree, and reject Self Determination and personal freedoms.

    Wait, perhaps it does.

    There are Peronists, and then there are Peronists who lack the fortitude to publicly confess to being Peronists. Dink and Reekie are of the latter.

    That is true. And that is a damning indictment on the moral quality of the “host”. Pointing fingers at “others” for being bad neighbors, and when it is time to lead by example... as usual Anglos will be Anglos.

    But how could students from Argentina enter, Capi? They'd have to admit the people on the Falklands are their neighbours, rather than pirates, thieves and squatters.

    And then they'd end up in a jail cell along with the editors of 'Alta' magazine.

    @24

    I am not too concerned. On the other hand, you have no argument, as usual.

    @26

    Perhaps, but still those that claim the higher ground are duty-bound to make the first move. You can't claim, as the Anglos do, “we are on the right side of every argument known to man”, and then behave like a high-school woman scorning her sweetheart, as immature a behavior as there can be.

    This scenario is exactly like the girl that to get even with the guy who doesn't acknowledge her, starts sleeping around with all the guy's friends. :)

    And Argentinians don't claim to be in the right in every argument known to
    man ?
    Read your own posts critically and you will see that you are guilty of the same actions that you ascribe to your misused term Anglos.
    If you argue, then you are holding a firmly held specific point of view that you KNOW is the correct one. This is the same with all nationalities and people.
    However,a discussion starts with no firm irrefutable viewpoint and positions may change from new ideas or information being revealed.
    I think you are confusing the two.

    WTF?

    You're like the guy that attempts to rape a girl and then wonders why she won't reply to your love letters from jail!

    If you don't want to take responsibility for Argentina's RECENT past actions in poisoning the relationship then it is no wonder you flunked out of uni.

    The competition has not produced riots, protests, threats nor hyperventilating politicians in any of the countries it is open to. Unfortunately all common occurrences in Argentina regarding the Falklands.

    And not even an ignorant know-nothing such as you can deny that Nostrils.

    @27 CapiTroll
    Maybe in theory they should have made the competition open to students in Argentina, but they'd just end up with a bunch of entries like Think's 'inspirations'. Then there's a risk whoever they chose would try to pull some stupid stunt, and any student who did take it seriously and wrote something good about the islands would make themselves very unpopular at home.

    As for those on the higher ground making the first move... the UK government does indeed want good relations with Argentina, but the Falklands government does not, therefore they are not likely to make the first or any move.

    And your analogy is a little lacking. The one made by the editor of Penguin News was more accurate, where Argentina stars as the childish stalker who threatens his object of affections, breaks into her house with a gun, and then tearfully berates her for rejecting him. Later he tries to turn all the neighbours against her too, and orders them not to speak to her. Finally she holds a party for them, and he complains because he's not invited...

    @31 Actually there are a number of people here in Argentina, among them some of the thoughtful young and the well-traveled independent thinkers, who do take a respectful view of the Falklanders and the other neighours. But they are a minority and necessarily keep their opinions pretty much to themselves since the bulk of the gap-toothed and rabid nationalist population here is still stuck in 1910, and they are loud, aggressive, only marginally educated, lacking in oral hygiene and conventional concepts of sanitation, and potentially dangerous. And they are legion. Sort of like what I imagine to be the Army of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution in Iran.

    @30

    Then why does that only apply one way? Why can't Argentina feel the same about the UK regarding 1806 and 1807, or 1845 for that matter, alongside France? Or are certain rapes “more valuable than others”?

    The civilised countries look at events of 200 years ago as history, from another era.

    30 years ago, the victims and surviving combatants are still alive and directly living with the original issues and the consequences, loss of loved ones, fear and insecurity.

    Are you unable to comprehend the human condition so much that you ask these stupid, but politicised Propagandized questions?

    Nostrils, how many people are still alive from 1806, 1807 and 1845?

    Your indignation is as fake as the history your country preaches about the Falkland Islands.

    You confect outrage for no reason other to imagine some historical slight that no longer exists.

    If you better understood human emotion you'd actually see how pathetic it is.
