The recent Argentina/UK joint cooperation statement, with a chapter on the Falklands/Malvinas Islands, is “promising”, however much rests to be defined and agreed, and additional air links should be carried out by Argentina's flag carrier, according to Rosana Bertone, governor of the extreme south province of Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and South Atlantic Islands. We don't want Aerolineas as no doubt they would want La Campora wankers to be stationed on the FALKLANDS in the disguise of so called mechanics, no thank you very much. Is Austral still flying in Argentina?

Aerolineas has already been vetoed by the Islanders.

Looks like Argentina isn't going to get that investment it wants.

A bit deluded perchance with that self given title.

I think I will call myself Laird of the Eastern Atlantic.....makes as much sense.

    Great job.

Perhaps she hasn't realized that Argentina has never legally owned the Falklands and the claim is w o r t h l e s s:

    @3 Clyde15

“Laird of the Eastern Atlantic” :)

You'd probably have a greater claim to that than Argentina has to anywhere in the South Atlantic.

Anywhere except that small 300km EEZ that extends from the River Plate down to Estados Island, without including the Falklands EEZ, which is still a huge chunk of the ... South Atlantic.

THe Falklands deserve their EEZ and Argentina should respect it but hands off OUR SOUTH ATLANTIC you grubby, insatiable Anglos. Going back to your old ways, as I predicted. Now claiming the ENTIRE ARGENTINE coast as yours. What a pathetic people, really.

    Worry about your own problems

@4. Sra. Bertone seems to think she's won. As I recall, the joint statement referred to air links with a “third country”. Does anybody on the Falklands want argie crews flying an aircraft to Uruguay or Brazil and then to the Falklands? I think not. To the best of my knowledge, Uruguay no longer has a flag-carrier airline. That leaves LATAM Brasil or LATAM Paraguay. But there may be as many as 15 others. Or maybe the Islanders would prefer British Airways?

@6. What are you drivelling about now? That Clyde is considering calling himself Laird of the Eastern Atlantic? Get a map and see if you can figure out which side of the Atlantic is “Eastern”. It isn't “yours”!

As far as your link is concerned, you must be desperate. That little group of countries is assuming that Britain will want to retain access to the EU's “single market”. Ain't so. Britain could trade with individual EU members under WTO rules. Or we could ignore the EU completely and just trade with the other 179 countries in the world!

“ I believe that air links should be guaranteed to be serviced with Argentina's flag carrier.”

I believe that the UK should claim Ushuaia back, but like Bertone's statement, it is unlikely to happen.

The Argentines criticise colonialism , yet persist with it by appointing governors.

“Anywhere except that small 300km EEZ that extends from the River Plate down to Estados Island, without including the Falklands EEZ, which is still a huge chunk of the ... South Atlantic.”

No Briton would claim that. Anything run by Argentina is ruined.

“to flexibilize a situation which clearly was geared to guarantee the protection of our living natural resources and those of the continental shelf,”

The laws past don't stop the areas being operated by the Falkland Islanders, but it is Argentina needing investment from the UK, not the reverse.

When the the Arana Southern Treaty (also known as the Convention of Settlement) was enacted in 1850 Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and the South Atlantic Islands were not claimed as being part of Argentine Confederation, the predecessor of the Republic of Argentina.
As this Treaty tacitly acknowledged British sovereignty over the Falkland Islands it would be interesting to know how this deluded lady can explain any possibility that Antartica and the South Atlantic Islands may be recognised as being under her jurisdiction.

    @10

Are you like out of your mind? In 1850, the Antarctic had not been subject to any claims, so to even suggest that somehow such a treaty insinuates that it retroactively falls under British control is a stretch the distance to the moon.

Please explain how the treaty would suggest Antarctica can be claimed by the British, and even more, that Argentina somehow ceded that right.

Take a break from the pipe.

Nothing has been agreed yet, and this twat is already trouncing it,

I can see this all falling apart,

do the argentine really actually know what they are all talking and agreeing about,
or is it the case, that the UK is thinking trade and other areas, and Argentina thinks sovereignty and land grabbing,

    just an honest thought.

    @ 11 CapiTrollism_is_back!!

You are as deluded as she is, nene!

If you can read(which appears unlikely) I am merely drawing to readers' attention that this lady CLAIMS jurisdiction over territories that in 1850 were NOT EVEN PART OF ARGENTINA and in that year the Argentine Confederation tacitly agreed British sovereignty over the Falkland Islands.

    ¡NABISIMO!

The Argentine Congress will approve of the statement and dialogue simply because they have no where else to go, Governor Bertone is attempting to keep the Argentine public on board with the government by appearing to be “in command” of the situation! in fact that its about as believable as her title governor of the South Atlantic islands and Antarctica.

And our stupid government backs them at the UN and G21,

Britain should just tell them to soddy offy, but we wont, the hand of friendship will always be open to abuse as long as we have weak governments.
