North Patagonia in Argentina is suffering the worst drought is 17 years which has meant the loss of 1.8 million sheep, since 2007, and so far this year rainfall has been 45% below the historic average. Read full article
They're probably just not getting enough radiation from Kepi Troll's soporific WWIII scenario.
What was he saying about that famous Mendoza orographic rain-shadow that protects Fortress Argentina and shields the country from all that nasty precipitation that might otherwise have been carried on the Westerlies from Chile?
And it was so recently that I_Trolltally_Invent_Everything_I_Post said You are the ultimate imbecile, volcanoes are the best long-term fertilizers of land on Earth.
What a surprise to find the three MP commentators-in-chief making fun of what is but a sad occurrence.
Typical of individuals totally disconnected from reality and a lot of time in their hands, seeking validation from fellow commentators in ultra conservative cyberspace forums.
Reekie, you don't seem to comprehend the difference between making an observation and making fun of something. By your own standards, your perpetual whinging, although totally bereft of cleverness, would be (and is) making fun of the Macri government and, perhaps unwittingly, the inability of Argentine industry to cope with changing conditions.
But then, we have ample evidence of the lack of a proper sense of humour here in Argentina. It was very much in evidence today in the lower house of the Argie congress, where it looked for a while as though certain of the uncaged and humourless members seemed to be at the point of visiting violence upon their fellows.
--------
Returning to the science of the matter of damage to the increasingly arid Argie steppe regions [read: desert] and the sub-grade-school level of understanding surrounding the specific regional impacts of volcanic ash from the Hudson eruptions, a good bit of study has been conducted to explain why, on the dry Argentine plains, the conventional juvenile wisdom of ash-as-fertiliser met its match in the Real World, at least for the foreseeable future:
The trachyandesitic Hudson tephra was rich in potassium, phosphorous, and sulphur However, these elements were mostly locked within crystals and glasses and not available for immediate extraction from soils by plants....
Where ash was cultivated into soil, there was greater water retention than in uncultivated ash deposits, but still lower than pre-ashfall levels, leading to increased irrigation requirements.
In a moist environment, this [ soil rehabilitation] may take several decades and in a semi-arid [the Argentine rain-shadow steppe] environment up to 1000 years......
He is a humourless and earnest ideologue, too focused on the Marxist message, to see that
these responses are a reaction to Mr Nostrils other posts predicting Northern Hemisphere nuclear holocausts that he contended would leave Patagonia untouched as anything toxic would be stopped by the western mountains and only visited upon Chile.
Speaking of radiation -- at least yet another form of damaging radiation that is here now and for which we don't have to await an imaginary hypothetical chimerical nuclear event --- the famous ozone hole here over southern Argentina seems to be letting the UV radiation set records, and causing increasing harm.
But wait ! Phenomena taking place outside of Fortress Argentina can't possibly have any impact on this country. After all, we have the Mendoza Rain Shadow to protect us.

That must be Southern Hemisphere, friendly' radiation from China, North Korea or other spiritual Herman's of the brave Patagonians.

Poor old fool
It's one of their most cherished myths.
