The 13th September joint statement between Argentina and the UK is a new bilateral convergence of common interests and the possibility, in the framework of a new dialogue and cooperation, of sovereignty discussions resumption on the Malvinas, South Georgia, South Sandwich islands and adjoining maritime spaces question, Argentine Deputy foreign minister Carlos Foradori told the Lower House Foreign Affairs committee during a summons on Wednesday. Time for Argentina to move on before too many people find out the truth:

NO mention of the Islanders in all this garbage.
Sep 29th, 2016 - 11:11 am - Link - Report abuse 0Still using the mythical 'Malvinas'.
Still no recognition of the FIG.
Still insisting on 'sovereignty'.
These twats may be playing to the massive number of numbnuts that compose the Peronistas/K's crap but it doesn't mean shit: you WILL have to talk to the Islanders via the FIG, the UK had better not try an arm twisting job and impose ANY 'deal' unless the Islanders agree.
What a waste of space these people are.
It's no wonder hundreds of thousands of Argentine now reside in Uruguay.

Sep 29th, 2016 - 01:20 pm - Link - Report abuse 01. They are speaking Spanish and in that language the Falklands archipelago is known as MALVINAS - no problem.
Sep 29th, 2016 - 02:06 pm - Link - Report abuse 02. The Falklands archipelago has never been part of Argentina and never will be! Not in a thousand years nor indeed, as Hepatitis claims, in 25 years!
Some interesting distortions of recent history here - specifically as the UK did not breach any of the agreements 1989/90 and 1999. The UK has always been careful in following the specific words of any agreement while Argentina referred to the spirit a rather indefinable thing.
Sep 29th, 2016 - 02:22 pm - Link - Report abuse 0One thing I know for sure. The FIG have already vetoed any Argentine airline from going to the Islands.
God, these politicians are f***ing thick, what part of Self Determination do they NOT understand.

Is it just me, or are the meaning of words somewhat more “flexible” in Spanish than in English.
Nice to be able to say exactly what you mean and mean exactly what you say.
The message of this seems to be, don’t try too hard to reach any sort of agreement, as it will almost certainly be thrown out by this bunch of fruit loops if it does not contain unconditional surrender by the British.
your piece is lacking in balance. You merely parrot Foradori;s statement. No mention of the outrage with which the opposition and indeed members of the Lets Change governing coalition have received the joint statement. It is in shaky grounds . Islanders should not count on what this fragile Macri administration promises. Congress will not allow implementation as Lilita Carrio, a member of the governing coalition and chair of the Foreign affairs committee that summoned Foradori, who besides is a discredited figure, here today, surely gone soon.

Sep 29th, 2016 - 07:12 pm - Link - Report abuse 0apparently the politicians know more,
so this will go round and round and round, until they fall off.lol
This is exactly why we should never trust Argentina. ready they are saying it includes future cover of our sovereignty . That is not what our local MLA's are saying so who is telling the truth. British politicians are ready to do anything to ensure that they can get a foot in the door with Argentina. They care not about the many who fought and died for our liberty. We have to stand firm now and say NO to anything involving Argentina. We don't need them they do need us though.

That's fine, but can we then drop the pretence that Argentina only wants dialogue, and the dastardly Brits won't talk?
Folks- Come down from high horses and panic stations!
Sep 30th, 2016 - 12:33 am - Link - Report abuse 0What was agreed to between London and Buenos Aires- with the approval and input from Falklands Government is indeed what was agreed.
BUT
Arg Govt now has to sell this to its Congress and 42 million Argentines - who have been fed a line of 100% mindless verbal garbage for over 10 years by the Kirschener Klan - and they all ended up believing it.
Some re-wording and window dressing now is required to get it all through Congress etc. quite simple - and most of us here are well used to it over the years. Arg Govt has to SELL the concept to their people that they are getting something - we know they are not - and Arg Govt knows that - they are giving as they know they need to start unravelling all the wrongs of last 14 years - as otherwise NO DEALS on anything between ARG and UK - trade or whatever.
And Arg needs a favour from UK - Arg wants UK to give them backing to host the G20 during 2018.
Part of price of this favour from UK is -Arg start unravelling all the K Crap over the Islands.
Not completely convinced 14 Islander1 (#) that what we are being told is the real truth and that bearing in mind they dropped out of the 99 agreement with exception to the continued Air link. Never for a minute believe their leaders . We were fooled once but never again. Let us never forget those that died for our freedom. We do not need Argentina though there are some folk on the Islands believe we do. That reason is for money alone and not the well being of the wishes that we simply do not want to enter into any kind of agreements unless and that is paramount that Argentina drop their illegal Sovereignty claim. Then and only then can we go forward in any kind of relationship to do otherwise is political suicide.
Sep 30th, 2016 - 01:09 am - Link - Report abuse 0Kelperabout- totally agree- it remains to be seen IF the Arg Govt actually DOES start to move away and drop all the anti fisheries-oil- travel etc etc stuff!
Sep 30th, 2016 - 02:20 am - Link - Report abuse 0The big one they failed with in 1999 was they failed to drop all the Arg place names brought in in 1982 like Puerto Argentino etc - that was part of the deal with the monthly Rio Gallegos landing.
Then of course yes correct - the Ks tore up all the fisheries and oil area agreement s etc as time went by and imposed the maritime flag issues, port of registry etc etc and blackmailing the container lines to not handle FI bound containers.
So there is a lot for the Macri Govt to start to undo. And Malcorra when she speaks has exact same line as Lady K anyway!
Tine will tell - and ball in their Court!
I agree we do not need Argentina - but geographic-size -and economic reality of us tiddlers alongside S.America - is simple- Arg can make difficult relations and diplomacy etc with anyone or any airline that has links with us that ARG does not Agree with- Even if not overflying them.
And no Country in S America nor Airline - is going to stick its neck on the line for the tiddly little Falklands and 3000 people! What good would it do them.
Not Fair and not Democratic -just actual dollars- but a realistic fact!
@16 Islander1
Sep 30th, 2016 - 04:20 pm - Link - Report abuse 0I do believe Macri is genuine in wanting better relations and will do what he can to that effect.
I don’t believe he will be able to achieve that much in the time allotted, then who knows what, maybe even be another K government.
This has been hard wired so far into their psyche, it will probably require a generation from when they stop indoctrinating themselves, before you see any real change.
Meanwhile you can only go with it and see if anything useful comes of it, even if it is only short term.
Falklands fight talk: Former Senator says taking land is Argentina's CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT
Sep 30th, 2016 - 06:53 pm - Link - Report abuse 0ARGENTINA has been told to fight for the Falklands as its their “constitutional right”, according to a Senator.
http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/716251/Falkland-Islands-Argentina-Britain-Malvinas-joint-statement
However Mr Menem, a former national senator, said parts of the text amounted to a violation of the Argentinian constitution which he helped to write in 1994.
Can they really be trusted ??

Oct 02nd, 2016 - 03:37 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Marcora doesn't even have to talk in his mother tongue to spark a reaction: In his adopted hometown of Chatham in Kent, southeast of London, just speaking English with an Italian accent can be enough to provoke a reaction.
Albers and her family, also originally from Germany, were so concerned about the growth of anti-EU sentiment across the country that they began planning for a future outside the UK long before the first ballots were cast.
Sara Calamassi grew up in Brussels, and first came to the UK as a student in the early 2000s. 'I always identified a lot with Britain ... I love other parts of the UK, but I don't feel comfortable going there now. I don't really want to go out into the country of the 52%,' she says. 'I want to stay here with the 48%.'
In the aftermath of the Brexit vote, reports of hate crime against migrants in the UK spiked; police recorded five times the usual number of racist attacks in the week after the referendum.
In Harlow, Essex, an area with high levels of Eastern European expats -- and a high Leave vote -- Polish man Arkadiusz Arek Jozwik was attacked and left for dead in August; police are treating his killing as a possible hate crime.

Britain won the Olympics of xenophobia, on June 23, says physiology professor Marcora. He says he's seen this hatred of foreigners at first hand.
And he says his wife, who is Chinese and recognizably an immigrant has been subjected to even worse treatment.
Setting aside years of trolling for just a moment... You Brits should be ashamed of what your country is becoming. Let's remember the not 1, not 2, not 3 but multiple tram videos with racist rants... the video of the attack on a Synagogue, etc.
Why are you people apologists for this 3rd Reich light atmosphere emerging in your country?
I think you are smoking the wrong stuff.

Oct 04th, 2016 - 12:45 am - Link - Report abuse 0If Britain is such an economically successful country, as well as a political model for others to follow because of its perceived stability (constitutional monarchy), then why are these things happening in the UK?
This miasma currently shrouding the country is much more common in frustrated, economically challenged, politically unstable countries where there is a dearth of leadership and whose values are adrift.
Successful, optimistic, dynamic countries don't behave like this.

Oct 04th, 2016 - 06:06 pm - Link - Report abuse 0You're a fool if you think that even 'Successful, optimistic, dynamic countries' are free from racism and xenophobia. It's a common human failing.
The economy has not really recovered from the 2008 crash, like those of the Eurozone and the US. It's not in recession but not growing strongly either. Plus there is the underlying problem of inequality, so plenty of people are unhappy about it.
As for political stability, I don't see why it's relevant. UKIP stirred up hostility to immigrants in order to persuade people to vote leave, and some closet racists took the vote as public support for their attitudes. This is the result.
@27 Pugol-H
I take it you are not bothered by the increase in hate crimes, including possibly a murder?
@28 DemonTree
Oct 05th, 2016 - 12:12 pm - Link - Report abuse 0Oh yes, I am, the reports are very disturbing, I am simply not going to debate them with that Numpty, Indian murdering Creole Planter Bastards are in no position to preach.
I work in a place that is 50% Polish workforce, ironically those who have been here long enough and were eligible to vote, voted out , they are in general far more right wing than your average Brit worker.
Personally, I have not seen, or heard of any such incidents from our “Continental Cousins”.
I will say this though, many of these “attacks” are in places where these thing happen anyway, in many case it really doesn’t matter who you are, you just happen to be there when some Chavs decide to have a go.
It’s a sad reality that if you go some places during drinking hours, you need to keep some smarts about you and helps if you can handle yourself when necessary.
I have been in a town centre, out and about, when it was three drunk E/Europeans who kicked off.
Where the Police can establish there is a hate crime, sentences are automatically heavy, with modern CCTV everywhere it is much more difficult to escape justice.
