By Bernie Sanders (*) - Millions of Americans registered a protest vote on Tuesday, expressing their fierce opposition to an economic and political system that puts wealthy and corporate interests over their own. I strongly supported Hillary Clinton, campaigned hard on her behalf, and believed she was the right choice on Election Day. But Donald J. Trump won the White House because his campaign rhetoric successfully tapped into a very real and justified anger, an anger that many traditional Democrats feel. Read full article

Nov 12th, 2016 - 01:18 pm - Link - Report abuse -7Don't presume to know the mind of the deplorables.
Here you go again painting with a broad brush.
It is unfathomable to you and your ilk that someone might actually have a preference for Trump and or his policies over yours and the rest of the leftists independent of a class envy.
It's incomprehensible to you that beliefs diametrically opposed to your own flourish and succeed.
The time of communism is past.
You are irrelevant.
You're stuck in a century old commie pseudo intellectual trap where counterrevolutionaries are rationalized and labeled as reactionaries.
You Bernie, are afraid of a merit based society where the individual is the ultimate garrantor of his/her success or failure - not government.
Your values are neither right or universal or even functional.
If some where in your pitiful dark mind you still have some small ability to learn know this - your cause is lost.
Apart from anything else Bernie will be 79 in 2020. Too old for that arduous job. He wants a US version of the NHS which the majority of US citizens reject. He's a non starter. Its sad to witness the seemingly futile search for decent candidates in such a huge country. Rome took many centuries to fall, we are witnessing the US teetering in less than two, shame.

Nov 12th, 2016 - 09:11 pm - Link - Report abuse -1Oblivion, along with the UK Labour party and that stupid sod and his 8 MPs who is determined to have a referendum on A50.
Has he never heard of a three line whip, all the rest of his 'support' are about to be whipped to within an inch of being chucked out of the Conservative Party.
The Remoaners are still in shock, diddum's!
The way it's going there won't be an EU to negotiate a Brexit with in two years.
Weird guy, he seems to be saying something and suddenly he changes all. Is he agreeing or just mocking it?
Nov 13th, 2016 - 12:45 am - Link - Report abuse 0Let’s rebuild our crumbling infrastructure and create millions of well-paying jobs. Let’s raise the minimum wage to a living wage, help students afford to go to college, provide paid family and medical leave and expand Social Security. Let’s reform an economic system that enables billionaires like Mr. Trump not to pay a nickel in federal income taxes. And most important, let’s end the ability of wealthy campaign contributors to buy elections.

Yeah! Not like all those people voting for Trump who complain that CEOs sent their jobs to China and Mexico, and now they can't find any good ones. What a shame they couldn't show some entrepreneurial spirit, eh?
@ LuisM
I don't understand you. Which bit do you think is inconsistent?
Couldn't have said it better...

Nov 13th, 2016 - 10:09 pm - Link - Report abuse -2The tone changes abruptly. The article was conciliatory, about 90% of it would be understood, even approved, by DT. Then... TOK! sarcasm.
It's like to talk to a doggy Niice dog, gooood dog... and then hit it.
Something seems going on wrong on Sander's mind.
Mr. LuisM
Nov 13th, 2016 - 10:42 pm - Link - Report abuse 0The tone isn't conciliatory AT ALL...!
In the first half, Mr. Sanders summarizes his true lifelong ideals for his country and people...
In the second half he summarizes his true feelings about Mr. Trump and folks like him...
If you read Bernie otherwise..., you have a true reading comprehention problem...!
Monkey is experiencing extreme butthurt.

Bernie sanders - The results of the election and the explanation are understandable. What is an enigma is why you, sir, at the very moment you could have revealed the rigged primaries, won the nomination, and inevitably beaten Trump; you chose to capitulate completely and support the evil queen. Believe me without your help she would not have broken 25%. Given that you have not yet changed your first name to Benedict and that I would still like to believe in your good intentions despite your despicably traitorous behaviour (to both your supporters and your country); I am choosing to believe that the enforcement arm of the DNC crime family threatened you or your family. My hope is that the truth will come out so that it may aid in the dismantling of that unethical crime syndicate.
