In what is turning into a Caribbean soap opera, Venezuela's foreign minister Delcy Rodriguez, with Bolivia's David Choquehuenca, on Wednesday morning turned up at Argentina's foreign ministry pretending to participate in an extraordinary Mercosur council meeting, to which she had not been invited since Venezuela is officially suspended from the group.     So what was their answer when immigration control asked them why they were entering the country? If they'd anything other than “wasting time” then they'd have been lying. :-D

    It's hard to feel anything but contempt for Rodriquez.Displaying all the ethics of an uninvited guest whilst Venezuela's diplomats haven't been paid for two months, they've been reduced to stealing christmas gifts to bribe the huddled masses and they are even losing influence with the Cubans: the oil shipments have dropped by 50%, Cuban medical personnel are returning home and their ideological brethren are placing their faith in tourism rather than Bolivarian largesse.
