Global Times, the official English language spokesperson of the Chinese Communistry party has sent a very strong reply to the incoming Trump administration referred to the disputed South China islands occupied by Beijing. Read full article
One thinks that China has been pushing the boundaries to far,
totally illegal yet she continues apace,
sooner or later this will have to be confronted,
and unfortunately Trump , like him or hate him,
is the man who will either confront China or walk away,
Some say, you enemies enemy is or can be your friend,
perhaps trump is trying this route
just saying like.
China decided on war long ago, and has spent a great deal of money in the last decade preparing for it. There will be war regardless of how anyone reacts to their provocations -- the longer it's delayed, the better prepared they will be.
@Bisley: China hasn't 'won' a war since 1962. And, matched against India, even that was dubious. Look back. Wasn't Hitler better prepared than Britain? Wasn't Iraq better prepared, twice, than the U.S?
Given the source I do not give this article much credibility. However, the very fact that it was published emphasizes that the US needs to leave NATO quickly. This should be a goal of the first year of the Trump administration.
I disagree with Bisley. China has been planning to challenge the US's position as sole superpower. This may lead to a war, but it's not certain. Or at least it wasn't; Trump does seem quite keen on picking a fight with China for some reason.
@Hepatia
What does the US's deteriorating relationship with China have to do with NATO? Are you suggesting the US needs to give up its interests on one side of the world in order to concentrate on defending them in another?
This may lead to a war,
pos, but doubtful, more than likely it will lead to a trade war with China and probably drag us with it,
but of course none of us knows what will happen next,
if anything erupts , lets hope its a trade war, rather than a military conflict for all our sakes.
