Airbags maker Takata agrees to pay US$ 1bn in penalties for concealing defects

The Japanese car parts maker Takata has agreed to pay US$1bn in penalties in the US for concealing dangerous defects in its exploding airbags. The firm, which also has assembly plants in Brazil and Uruguay, also pleaded guilty to a single criminal charge, the company and the US Department of Justice said.. Read full article

    Don't screw with the Americans,

    here in Britain companies get away with everything, mostly and the fines are a joke and an insult,
    injector seats , washing machines , tumble dryers , VW Cars, and the rest,

    just saying like.

    I'm surprised there was only a fine. Didn't the US threaten to nuke a couple of their cities a few years ago?
