    Hey, Trump finally managed to say something I agree with! Too bad the effect on Maduro is more likely to be negative than positive.

    - Trump calls for
    - Trump condemns
    - Trump shows concern
    - Trump notes
    - Trump bla, bla, bla
    THAT's ALL, [and of course, “NO” action]!

    Trump sonds more and more like CFK every day. They have the same temper and relationship with the press too. His anti-press conference yesterday would make him a complete joke if he didn't have the nuclear codes.

    @EB
    He'd be hilarious if he didn't have so much power to screw things up. It's a shame we can't lock him and Maduro in a room together, we could at least have one less crazy president in the world...

    What action do you want him to take? The US does not have a lot of influence on VZ right now, and Maduro is already using them as a scapegoat for everything that goes wrong, so it would be pretty hard for them to do anything constructive.

    @DemonTree: May the “Carrot & Stick” approach work? Maduro is DESPERATE and will accept ANY solution to continue remaining in power! With intelligence and a strategic plan, the USA [not necessarily Trump] may be able to accomplish their goals for Venezuela or via Venezuela, for the South America. What do you think?

    He's not desperate enough to remove the price controls on food, or allow people to import and export freely, or get someone competent in to run the nationalised oil company. And it would look really bad for him to accept help from the US aka the Great Satan... maybe if people didn't know about it, but how could THAT be arranged?

    It just doesn't seem feasible to me.
