How can Argentina claim the Falklands when she has never legally owned them?

Feb 20th, 2017 - 06:27 pm - Link - Report abuse +6That is the problem when they keep lying to themselves, when they believe their own propaganda, when their papers can't even report correctly what was said in an interview in Spanish. They are hit with the reality that they are no nearer to getting what they 'demand' than they were 32 years ago.

Feb 21st, 2017 - 07:10 am - Link - Report abuse +3Good on you Boris! There should be more plain speaking on this issue so that the Argentines understand exactly what the UKs position is. Pussy footing around with 'diplomatic' language only encourages Argentine delusions.
What difference? The Falklands don't belong to the Argentines and never have done (apart from a few days in 1982 - hardly the basis for claiming sovereignty) end of story... bye bye.

Stolen off who exactly, when and under what circumstances?
The difference is very big insurmountable more like., Argentines we want it, FALKLANDERS we have it.That's the only difference I see .Argentines say we want to make your lives miserable,FALKLANDERS we are happy and content, why on earth would we want to be miserable.
Feb 24th, 2017 - 12:20 pm - Link - Report abuse +1The Falklands have never been in possession of the Argentean, they tried to take the island by stealth in 1833 and launched a military take over in 1982. In effect the military adventure was a double defeat because the removal of the invading forces recreated the Falklands not as a colony, but as a nation. Also there is no automatic right of ownership because another country stands upon your continental shelf, done forget you are standing on their continental shelf too. Anyway the argument is fallicious, many of the countries of the world stand on continental shelves. Where this happens a line is drawn between them

Stolen off the Falklanders, 1982. Didn't make them Argentine... The RGs were just in possession of stolen goods for a few weeks...
