Tony Blair has called on pro-Europeans to form a new cross-party movement to persuade the public they were wrong to vote to leave the EU. In an impassioned speech, the former prime minister said “progressives” should make it their “mission” to reverse the outcome of the referendum last June. Read full article

    Dear Tony:

Who drove the genocidal Iraq War but lying Neocons ideologues like you?
The pot calling the kettle? You have no sense of decency left? None?

B Liar was the first politician to get me out on the street in a protest march. It was the anti Iraq war demo in London biggest ever in the UK, more than a million people. I will be out on the streets again if this serial liar's wishes ever gain any traction. This man, as Bush's poodle has helped turn the Middle East into a bloodbath. All these years later the mayhem continues and the tide of refugees it sparked is an unwelcome side effect making it a double whammy.

I didn't know you were on that march too, The Voice. It's too bad none of these leaders were listening then.

Blair has completely lost it, if he wanted to campaign he should have done it before the referendum. It IS too late now, and people will only believe they were wrong if and when they see it for themselves. I think he's right about who is driving the bus and their plans, but this is what people voted for. If they wanted a fairer deal for workers they should have chosen differently.

The arrogance of this war criminal defies belief. He should shut up and pray for forgiveness.

As I'm not British by birth nor live in the UK it's virtually impossible for me to take a stand on the issues referred to regarding Mr. Blair's previous political activities.

However I do believe that Mr. Blair is correct in pointing out that “BREXIT” is perhaps not the best thing for the UK and that he seems to be correct in stating that many were not clearly informed of the full extent and consequences that leaving the EU could evenually mean to those affected, as it at least now appears to be the case. Hence it's possible that many are re-thinking their original position/vote and therefore should have the opportunity of changing their stand, if they now consider it's more convenient finally, not to leave the EU.

I appreciate and fully agree that it's a very debatable subject and in my case being looked at from an “outsiders” view point could well affect my interpretation of the whole situation.

    Little J:

You have as much to an opinion as anybody else about a character like Blair.
However, you're missing the whole point, Blair hands are drenched in innocent blood, therefore his opinions and moral standing, do not allow him to speak on any issue. He needs to be “neutralized”. The comments are about him, and not the issue at hand.

    @ Little J

You are right that a lot of people were not informed about the consequences or advantages of Brexit. It is only now with the pound devaluing that we are seeing the first consequences - and there are many negatives still to come. Brexit will happen in two years but the full break from Europe may take up to ten years. However, the majority voted for Brexit and now we have to concentrate on getting the best deal on the way out. It will happen.

We were discussing the motive for TB's impassioned lecture here over the weekend and the conclusion is that his value on the speaking circuit must be falling and he wanted to raise his profile. There are people who will still pay him a lot of money to hear him say that we do not have to leave Europe, just as there are morons who will attend Trump vanity rallies.

Personally, I think he has a right to an opinion however misguided and that he is quite wrong about us having a second referendum. Only a major catastrophe could change that decision, like an ape in the White House who runs his mouth to the point of a nuclear war…….oh, wait.

My comments WERE about the issue at hand, and Blair's support for the Iraq war doesn't affect whether he is right or wrong on this.

Little J, it is not true that people weren't informed of the possible consequences of leaving the EU. But the pro-Leave campaign - which included several of the most widely read newspapers - convinced people that they should not believe the warnings, dubbing them 'Project Fear' and claiming that all the experts were lying about the risks or that any idiot knew better than them.

Now that people have voted they are far less likely to admit they were wrong or were fooled. All the Brexiters on here are busy telling each other that Scotland will never vote for independence and the economy will be fine. And if these bad consequences do happen it will be too late to change their minds.

So I think Blair's campaign would be pointless at this stage, it makes him seem like he is stuck in the past. It would be worth campaigning for more accountability from the government about the negociations and a wider discussion on the direction the UK should take after Brexit, as well as how we can fix the other problems the referendum has revealed.

    The majority voted to leave,

This is the guy who stood in a by-election during the Falkland War campaigning on an anti war platform and he nose dived .(I'll bet he never looked into the history of the Islands before he spouted off).

He observed that wars get votes but failed to observe that the Falklands War was about British people's rights, whereas Iraq was not.

B liar thinks that voters are simple. OK many don't have the ability like him, to earn a fortune for talking crap, but then he thought we would all be happy every time the UK is involved in war, regardless of the circumstances.

    That actually makes him simple.

When a few years ago Israel was being hit by rockets and retaliated, B liar was paid a fortune for being a middle east peace envoy but he was conspicuous by his absence when that kicked off.

“Tony Blair has called on pro-Europeans to form a new cross-party movement to persuade the public they were wrong to vote to leave the EU”

The fault lies with the EU. When Cameron warned them of what about the E. U. the British public objected to, they laughed it down and more or less said if you don't like it then leave.

And were then surprised when the leave vote won.

Like the EU autocrats, B liar is ignorant, but paradoxically thinks the British public are, when he should look in the mirror to find ignorance .

He wants us to stay in the EU because he fancies a fat cat EU commissioners job .

He seems to be sure that all leave voters were clueless about the disadvantages of leaving but these were spelled out loud and clear during the referendum as were the advantages.

Democrats are driving the bus - with some ideologues lying down in the road in front of them while other ideologues insist the first lot of idealogues be run over.
But what matters is that democrats are driving the bus.

As for Blair he wanted to take us into the Euro which would have destroyed us in 2008. Stuck inside of the Euro we would have been utterly powerless to recover - just as the southern EU states have been. It is the odd thing about Gordon Brown that while he was a poor Prime Minister his 3 greatest impacts were before and after his spell in Downing Street - saving the Union, saving the banks in 2008 and keeping us out of the Euro. Whereas Blair was applauded out of Parliament but is now one of the most hated chancers in Britain. Funny that.
