The Royal Air Force continues to call at Brazilian airports for refueling in their trip to the Falkland Islands, according to Zero Hora, the main daily from the city of Porto Alegre in Rio Grande Do Sul state. Read full article
Does it really matter that the RAF are re-fuelling in Brazil, why not re-fuel in Argentina as they could certainly use the revenue. Cutting off their nose to spite their face.
Aust I do understand, honour amonst thieves springs to mind. And where would one find honour and self-dignity in Argentina? Nose ,face or shooting oneself in the foot I believe it is called.
The Foreign & Colonial Office and 10 Drowning St. must be going through serious intellectual & economical dire straits to keep commiting such silly diplomatic faux pas just to save the cost of some IFR's...
The probe on that C-130 proves that they don't need to...
Doveoverdover - what is the connection between the apparently legal presence of a British military aircraft in Brasil and the illegal passage of a Spanish warship through British territorial waters? Grow up, nabo!
Gibraltar has no objection to US naval vessels calling there; foreign armed forces entering without permission are a completely different matter. It appears that Brazil gave and continues to give permission to the RAF, despite what they told Argentina.
1) Brasil has signed both the Mercosur and the Unasur agreements forbiding all members to provide any assistance to British military on their way to or from them Malvinas Islands...
2) There are no internationally recognized Briish Territorial Waters near or around Gib...
Not 3..., not 12..., nor 200 miles...
Just some Disputed Waters... where them Engrish and them Spaniards sail more or less as it pleases them...
You are luuuving it when Brasil is giving the two fingers to Argentina ? So are we !
As to the refueling probe it is not required when Brasil has granted refueling facilities to the RAF.
Why should we send a tanker down with the Herc. burning twice the amount of fuel when Brasil is quite happy to sell us the fuel. Maybe Brasil would rather make it's own decisions than be tied to a dodgy neighbour.
When a Vulcan had to land in Brasil during the Falkland's war, the crew were treated as heroes by the Brazilian Air Force and wined and dined. This was when there was supposed to be solidarity between Brasil and Arg.
) Brasil has signed both the Mercosur and the Unasur agreements forbiding all members to provide any assistance to British military on their way to or from them Malvinas Islands...
There is your answer. The Herc. was going to the Falklands not the Malvinas so Brasil has kept it's word in line with the agreements. Suck on that !
Those RAF landings in Brasil are quite functional for us Argies...
Them Engrish are just pouring petrol on the flames..., to save some fuel...:-)
Quite soon..., whith Brasil normalized and Temer's chaos forgotten..., the Unasur and Mercosur agreements on Malvinas will return in force... surely costing some Brasilian military their careers...
Please..., dilletants in the Foreign & Colonial Office and 10 Drowning St.
Continue the good work...
Chuckle chuckle...
Temer's chaos? Weren't there even more landings back in 2015 when Rousseff was President? I thought these socialist governments were supposed to be into solidarity and all that stuff?
You ask...:
Weren't there even more landings back in 2015 when Rousseff was President?
I say...:
If there were..., they are not documented in any way... No pictures... No dates... No nada...
Just a trascendido (leak) from somebody at the Argie Air Force...
Typical disinformation technique..., if somebody cared to ask me...
On the other hand... the landings in the Temer era are quite graphically documented..., as per above pictures...
Argentina's government officially complained to Brazil about the flights from 2015 and 2016. I really hope that wasn't based on a leak from 'somebody'!
The undocumented 2015 flights leak from somebody is very functional for the current administration...
ALL bad things they have inherit from the previous administration...
Even them Engrish Pirates...
Even the Brazil's treat RGs with total and continuing contempt. Hilarious! Brook Street fails in its mission week by week, month by month, year by year...
@Think
So you are claiming that there were no flights in 2015 and the government of Argentina made an official complaint about them to Brazil just to make the previous administration look bad?
What about this quote:
At the time Ambassador Daniel Filmus made similar contacts with the Brazilian embassy in Buenos Aires, and so did the Argentine representation in Brasilia.
I have seen in the military press thart the Brasilians are interested in buying HMS Ocean when she is decommissioned. Their only aircraft carrier is only fit for the breaker's yard.
Can Think tell us if the Argentine government have given permission for this proposed purchase as he seems to think that Argentina decides Brasil's diplomatic relations with the UK.

Gib takes a pretty dim view of Spanish warships transiting Gib's territorial waters. Then again Gib isn't a real country. Forget I mentioned it.
