British Prime Minister Theresa May on Wednesday accused European Union officials of trying to influence the outcome of United Kingdom's general election through veiled threats. Read full article
Has the EU no understanding of the British psyche...
They will undoubtedly cut their nose off to spite their face, they will do the unexpected and they do not respond well to threats and demands...
These are not all laudable traits, but they are a fact of life in the British psyche...
I can see an economic disaster looming that could be easily avoided, but will probably not be...
The EU will suffer from it as much as the UK...
Eventually, years on...the UK will recover, but I don't think the EU will...
What the Europeans do not appear to realize is that the Brits have one strong, pretty much unanswerable move at their disposal. They will find out when the first ship full of Eastern Europeans is dumped in Calais. How long it will take to round up and ship out 900 thousand Polish people I am not sure, but I do believe that if the Europeans continue their blinkered the UK shall be punished course, that is what is going to happen. And given that the Brits in Europe are all tax payers making material contributions to the respective economies, Europe will be the loser and will be the most embarrassed. Tusk needs to wake up and smell the coffee. Tusk and his buddies need to keep their traps shut - the UK election, the status of Northern Ireland and the status of Gibraltar are nothing to do with them and their interference to date just shows that Brexit is the right decision.
The six Brexit traps that will defeat Theresa May.
Two years ago Yanis Varoufakis led Greece’s failed attempt to negotiate with the EU. He explains how the Brussels establishment will do everything to frustrate and outmanoeuvre the British prime minister, using tactics ranging from truth reversal to ‘the Penelope ruse’.
Unfortunately the economic disaster seems more and more likely. :(

That is never going to happen. The Poles and others in Britain are tax payers making material contributions to our economy; removing them at this point would be disastrous, especially for the NHS and social care. Moreover they all came here legally, so what possible basis would there be for deporting them? I think even May's government would realise there could be no possible benefit, and I hope that most people in this country would oppose such a harsh and harmful plan.
You are wrong about NI and Gibraltar too; borders and deals both have two sides, and the other side of these is very much the EU's business.
