A gentleman all the way. I for one will miss his one liners. A well deserved retirement.

An exceptional “career” in so many ways. Royal Navy service during WW2. Marriage to Her Majesty. A “consort” in millions. Popular with many Britons for his support to our sovereign, his stalwart performance together with his irreverence and one-liners, often aimed at pricking the self-importance of dignitaries. Hopefully, his “retirement” will only mean the end of “public duties”. Probably only exceeded in popularity by Her Majesty herself. Perhaps Prince Philip says what the Queen thinks she shouldn't actually say. I've never seen her suggesting that he should be “reigned in”. A truly exceptional man!
