In the United States British Petroleum has, since 2010, been placed under the operational control of Amoco as a condition of its continued presence. This is also the case in several other critical jurisdictions.

However, the British Petroleum that is likely to present in Argentina is the same incompetent British organization that gave us the Deepwater Horizon disaster, the same organization that has been convicted of 11 felonies and the same organization guilty of lying to Congress. Argentina would do well to avoid any dealings with this organization.

”Amoco Corporation, originally Standard Oil Company (Indiana), was a global chemical and oil company that was founded in 1889... Amoco merged with British Petroleum in December 1998, forming BP Amoco.“

”In the aftermath of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, there were reports in the press that BP was reconsidering rebranding itself as Amoco in the US. Some independently owned BP stations, including former Amoco stations, switched to a different brand due to the public relations fallout as a result of the oil spill.”

Looks like you've been fooled by a simple branding change, as Amoco has been part of BP since 1998. I do recall they switched to an American CEO at the time of the oil spill, too. No doubt that makes them seem more trustworthy to a certain audience.
