Consumer prices rose 1.4% in Argentina in August, government statistics agency Indec announced, bringing eight-month inflation to 15.4%. The central bank is targeting national inflation between 12 and 17% for 2017, well below economists' expectations of 22%. Read full article

In Argentina, 2017 annual inflation of only 29% is to be considered immensely more gratifying than the more realistic expectation of 30%.

Former Kirchnerist INDEC workers have reportedly created a new economic accounting system which takes into account the high rate of inflation. In a recent press conference, spokesperson Flora del Orto provided this example: for a paid street demonstration where each of 100 hooded participants will throw 18 rocks, the organisers must provide sustainment choripanes at the rate of 2 per hour. For a so-called spontaneous 4-hour riot, the total number of required choripanes for this scenario would equal 518,713 -- for billing purposes.

I think I see the problem. Unlike the serious and civilised nations, Argentina is responding to populist nonsense by spending 50 percent of its GNP to “search” for a delinquent who traveled from Bs As province to Chubut province to join in with local terrorists and participate in crimes there.
