If they want independence, or even to retain what autonomy they had, they will have to maintain control of government offices, police, TV stations, etc. by force. Spain isn't going to give up control unless the price of keeping Catalonia becomes more than they're willing to pay. Are the Catalans willing to fight Spain for control?
