Such a sad day! All mariners will be affected by this event.

Given the Argentine Navy's inability to tell the truth...I wouldn't believe this.

Thankfully, since Argentina hasn't got the capability to retrieve any wreckage from that deep, a third independent party (or parties) will be involved in recovering the wreckage and any bodies. Since taking lots of video and photographs is standard practice in cases like this, it'll be harder for the Argentine Navy to try and cover up the fact that the sub wasn't seaworthy.

Macri certainly is distancing himself from the navy as this tragic coverup is becoming more obvious to a very increasingly skeptical Argentine public.

The boat is still missing. But some details may have been known and not made very public earlier.

Argie media reporting that the argie navy spokesperson indicated that the captain of the submarine made 8 satellite-phone calls (via Iridium) on the morning that the boat presumably exploded and subsequently disappeared. The calls are said to have covered the same information as the message released earlier: problems and short circuit. One call reportedly lasted 6 to 7 minutes.

What is interesting about this news note is that it seems to be the first time that there is a public indication of the heavy wave conditions on the surface, which many have suspected as contributing to the amount of sea water that entered via the snorkel, leading to the reported fault and short circuit.

Separately, reports ongoing about searchers looking into an object located at about 940-950 metres depth. Apparently that object was initially detected by a Chilean ship involved in the operation.
