Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro was ill in hospital with a feeding tube on Sunday following surgery days ago to remove a colostomy bag fitted after he suffered a knife attack late last year. Read full article
Is it a Fake-News Or an of Act of Faking it? He knows that the trick [strategy/naughtiness {safadeza}] of not being present; by cancellation at the last moment, by not participating, did work very well in the past - in Brazil + also abroad (Davos) - so why not now? The Idea is, to be True to the Political Traditions!
@:o))
I'm perfectly aware that many Brazilian politicians, and ex-politicians, as well as their close friends, have the unfortunate habit of becoming ill, just before or soon after they receive the visit of the Federal Police.....quite understandable when the penny drops that they might be going to jail for awhile..........but what makes you think Bolsonaro (Jair) is neck-deep in trouble ? unless you are referring to a purely medical condition caused by a 6 inch knife perfurating his abdomen....
REF: ”what makes you think Bolsonaro (Jair) is neck-deep in trouble”:
I hope that he isn't but he showed an ability - successfully too - of faking [let's call it a strategy] it - as mentioned about it earlier:

How many politicians have cancelled press interviews ?......plenty of them, and none had been stabbed/ nearly died, 3 months earlier. And none were criticized endlessly for it.
Nothing like being a bola da vez, even if not deserved.
I know you are a pessimist, it's your right, but to think Bolsonaro is faking all this....no further comment.
At my best; I'm sarcastically sceptical, till the contrary is proven to be true. :o))
Faking the non-availability may not be true, considering the seriousness of the injury but a hypothetical possibility [at least a faint] may exist.
Having said that;
U know that my assumptions are as follows and aren't limited to any particular country/politician:
#1: If U aren't a crook, U can't be in politics. The other crooks wouldn't let U remain honest + still be in power.
#2: If U are a politician who does not want to steal; U r simply wasting your time in politics. Why do U think that the politicians fight so bitterly, tooth & nail; to grab power?
#3: Laws are made by them [loopholes included]; first to protect their interests/benefits - the immunities, +privileges, +protection, +unrealistically high salaries.
#4: People elect a government which they deserve.
NO exceptions [or not too many] but I could be wrong.
I don't think he's faking it. Firstly the trouble hasn't reached him (yet) only his family and associates, and secondly he'd want to look strong, wouldn't he? Not like he might croak and leave General Whatsisname as President.
However, if U recall, his Escape-Record is not so bad; if U consider that in spite of doing NOTHING for +/- 30 years; the masses thought that he is THE Last Resort to save The Country, in spite of the prospects of leading a precarious life for the next 4 - maybe 8 years (depends upon the Educated+Brainwashed Ignorants)! :o))
@:o))
Ok, Bolsonaro's Congressional record as far as presenting new projects is concerned, is not particularly impressive.....but then neither are the records of the other 512 deputies and the 81 senators.....projects which benefit Congressional members are discussed at the rate of lightning and approved in the darkness of night.....those that might benefit the people are totally disfigured and then only passed after a bit of encouragement ($$$).....Bolsonaro is a breath of fresh air, an attempt to break away from the old politics, whether he will succeed or not, depends - unfortunately - on Congress.....but considering that 99% of the presidential candidates come from Congress, I think we could have done a lot worse....have you stopped to think what could happen if Haddad had been elected ? Lula and Dilma, and the whole circus would be back in action.....how long would it take Brazil to follow in Venezuela's footsteps ? The majority voted for change, let's see what happens.
REF: how long would it take Brazil to follow in Venezuela's footsteps?:
Absolutely True!
If the politicians continue to fool around by making the Quality of Life even worse than what I heard about + by stealing more [thanx to the Privileges+immunities]; I guess Venezuela may have to accept Brazilian Refugees.

I'm familiar with the exorbitant number of politicians, aides, political appointments, all with a certain amount of immunity - due to political reasons and a lack of transparency in public contracts. Everything, literally everything, in every one of the 5,700 municipalities in Brazil, is corrupted. It's all over the news, all the time, and some coruption schemes are the most incredible, well-thought out frauds....and the corporate spirit keeps it growing like a snowball.
The fact Bolsonaro, in the federal government, has removed career politicians from positions that handle money, is a good start....just the opposite of the PT. But time will tell...

Although it DOES sound like a Good Start; the temptations could be too many; to protect the Closer Circle - to the extent of changing the laws/constitution in their favor[?]!
And by the way; when do his Experts on the Artificial Intelligence are likely to return from their Holidays in China [at the public-expenses; of course]?

Like the rest of the politicians; do you take his bona fides for granted as well? Or is he above par?
Besides, he did it before, didn't he? When Neck-Deep in trouble; they ALL have legitimate justifications!
