REF: “Lawyers for both say they did not commit the crimes”:

    OF COURSE THEY DIDN'T!

The Investigations+Trials+News+Interviews, etc. are nothing but a part of one GIGANTIC FARCE anyway!

If there was SOME seriousness in Brazil; it was possible to:
    - Chopp-Off the Privileges+Immunities of the politicians
    - Minimize their absurdly unrealistic & high salaries
    - Prevent the corrupt from remaining active in politics
    - Oblige the convicted corrupt to return the stolen wealth
    - Prevent the legalization of corruption

As that's NEVER going to happen; the Brazilians may remain hallucinated that they live in a GREAT country!

They may be the fall guys, but the higher-ups who commissioned Marielle's assassination will remain untouched.

    Absolutely TRUE!

What else would you expect when a majority of the politicians who are involved - directly/indirectly - in scandals which surfaced but were conveniently AND permanently forgotten PLUS those which are yet to surface?

The two ex-cops (presuming they are indeed the hit-men, and all the evidence up to now points conclusively to that) may not want to cooperate, as if they do they'll be signing their own death sentences, but the fact that a R$ 100,000.00 was deposited in the shooter's account days after the assassination corroborates the line of investigation....suspicions that low-level politicians in Rio (Councilmen, elected in electoral zones controlled by the 'militia') were involved, are gaining strength.
I believe the chances of a cover-up are looking pretty slim, considering that the “higher-ups” (to use EM's words) do not seem to be very high in the food-chain...and it's unlikely people will want to stick their necks out, for them..

From the time taken + from the news-coverage; by the “cooperation” received so far from the authorities - the higher/lower-ups - it could well be just the opposite! The reliability PLUS the efficiency of the “concerned” is not exactly at its peak [AND never will be] - trust them!

Perhaps....but the police inspector who was removed, plus others, explained that the lack of clues to start off with, right after the murders, obliged the investigation to be carried out in the inverse order that it normally would, which meant that instead of untying the knot and narrowing possibilities until pinpointing the culprits, opened up infinite possibilities without any real indications as to who could be behind it....with better investigation methods and technology, probably furnished by the Feds, the noose finally closed on the two ex-cops.
Everything points to them being the hit men, but the person, or group, behind them still needs to be found

    Of course!

But isn't THAT the “Name of the GAME'?

Pl. compare this ”small” incident to the Billions/Trillions stolen from the Public-$ - for more an FORTY years & that too, by more than TWO THOUSAND larcenists! Besides lots of oohs+aahs from the 'authorities' & press+public alike; what did they really get as the result of the thefts?
