Lopez Obrador urges Spain and the Vatican to apologize for abuses during the conquest; Madrid strongly rejects

The Mexican president has sent a letter to Spain's King Felipe VI and Pope Francis urging them to apologize for human rights abuses committed during the conquest of the region. Andrés Manuel López Obrador said the indigenous peoples of Mexico had been the victims of massacres. Read full article

    Mr López Obrador came to power in December, with a left-wing agenda. He promised to tackle corruption, reduce inequality and lift millions of Mexicans out of poverty.“

    ”...and lift millions out of poverty“ ?.....Haven't I heard that promise somewhere before?

    Besides the ”apparently” crazy request to Spain and the Vatican, sounds like his ultimate objective would be to - IF Spain and the Vatican acquiesced - to then file for indemnity, on behalf of Mexico's indigenous population - (and of course, himself) - in order to guarantee his comfortable retirement.
