    And of course, of the US$ 800 million paid out in bribes to tons of politicians (mostly in Brazil), none of it ended up in Lula's pocket....how do we know ?
    Because he said so, and because 'he knows nothing'.....poor toad.

    That's why I FIRMLY believe that Once a politician; ALWAYS a crook [and vice versa]!

    The figure [$800M] is a watered-down version of the actual figure! The Total Stolen Wealth for the last fifty or so years by the 2'000 or so politicians could easily reach well beyond trillions and unchecked; will continue to go on increasing! Pl. make YOUR OWN Calculation:

    So at this rate, by ANY kind of Economic Reforms, the State/Fed-Income can NEVER exceed the 'expenditure'! The Economic-Crisis may only seem to vanish by an Elusive, Cosmetic+Superficial Ineffective Modifications!

    Realistically speaking; Believe it or NOT:

    - the crisis is here to stay
    - the standard of living will dwindle
    - the quality of life will worsen
    - the cost of living will sky-rocket [or at least take-off]

    “And of course ...”, most importantly, he(Sérgio Moro) was accused of sabotaging the economy by paralyzing Brazil’s largest construction companies in 2015 instead of treating them as too big to fail, in a move which caused an immediate 500,000 layoffs in the construction sector and, according a study cited by BBC, a 2.5% drop in the GDP. This was all publicly available information at the time that Lula was arrested, but none of it made it up into the commercial Anglo media.

    @DT
    Did you see Gollum's hilarious comment ”...most importantly, he(Sérgio Moro) was accused of sabotaging the economy by paralyzing Brazil’s largest construction companies in 2015...blah, blah, blah“ ?

    ”Most importantly” ??? LOL.....Only a twisted mind can conclude something as absurd, that the consequences of Odebrecht (and other construction companies) stealing billions for themselves and others (foreign officials, local politicians, State-run Co employees) is not their fault, and that Moro is to blame for the recession.
    And 500,000 lay-offs ? what about the other 13,5 millions jobs lost in other sectors in 2014/15, while Dilma was still president ? and the Toad was still running around, free ?
    Yeah, all Moro's fault.
    Think Gollum's living in a leaky, moldy basement may be affecting his brain, or what's left of it.

    Well, I suppose that if every well-intentioned prosecutor and judge in this country, had decided to turn a blind eye to all the corruption - confessed a hundred times over by dozens of executives, now in jail, and who gave back hundreds of millions - Brazil would be happily sailing along, with the PT still in charge and the people (the poor, well understood) getting shafted on a daily basis, and still thanking those who are screwing them....

    Only an idiot like Gollum to try to pass that off as credible ....fighting coruption lead to Brazil's crisis / recession.
    Don't know why he doesn't send an article on his brilliant conclusion - which deserves a Pulitzer Prize - to Brasilwire, or to his darling, Greenwald, to be published.

    The GDP figure in 2015 was $1,800,030 million, leaving Brazil placed 9th in the ranking of GDP
    https://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=brazil%27s+GDP+in+2015&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8
    $1,800,030 million divided by $2.5% equals $720,012,000,000
    ”if every well-intentioned prosecutor and judge in this country” Seems like an oxymoron. In a properly operating legal system, the highest court would go into overdrive to correct an obvious wrong. But, if the taint of corruption is that pervasive then it's no surprise that it's not going too.

    Who said that what Moro was doing was wrong?
    The judge in this case had clearly indicated the eventual verdict of the trial.
    Not only must a judge be free of bias he must avoid even the appearance of bias. I cannot imagine any common law jurisdiction entertaining such wrongful behavior, it clearly violates the right to a fair trial.
    “If a judge is biased or prejudiced for or against a party or attorney, he cannot be fair and impartial in deciding the case. A party or attorney who believes such bias or prejudice exists must prove it with admissible evidence, ... bias or prejudice typically means the judge has acted or spoken in a way that prevents him or her from treating the party or attorney in a fair and impartial manner.”

    New Lava-Jato Leak: While Mocking Lula's Testimony, Moro was Instructing the Prosecution
    President Lula gained new queries with further leaks reported by The Intercept Brasil, on Friday night, June 14th.

    While presiding at the trial, Moro mocked the defendant, Lula, In a private chat and, simultaneously, urged Lava Jato to file an official note against the former president's defense.

    @Jack Bauer / @Terence Hill

    My Legal-Knowledge is less than zero but normally in any court trial, the defending advocate argues against a public prosecutor and a judge just decides who is right or wrong after hearing the arguments, witnesses and after studying the proofs presented by both the advocates. Whereas in this case, the judge directly interviews the accused. I wonder if this was “NORMAL”!

    REF: The Hacked Messages & The Leak

    There's a lot of noise but the accused are not tried yet! It also appears that some “Unfair Activities/Treatment” may have taken place on purpose:

    ” Whereas in this case, the judge directly interviews the accused. I wonder if this was “NORMAL”!

    IF it weren't normal procedure (in Brazil), do you think it would have been (so flagrantly) used in ALL cases, or that the lawyers of all the defendants would have allowed it / not complained ? No one complained because the procedure is correct.

    But let's go into more detail : It is not the judge's role to look for evidence /proof ; along with the prosecutors, he simply questions those who opt for plea-bargains, which in turn might offer / furnish clues for the prosecutors to follow up on ; if the clues turn up evidence, it'll be examined, and when/if they feel they have a solid case, the prosecution present its findings to the judge, who can accept, or reject the accusations. If he accepts them, he will then question the defendant, based on the evidence presented by the prosecutors, and after listening to both sides - defense as well - he will decide, based on the evidence and on the 'law' (not personal likes /dislikes), whether any crimes were committed, and if the evidence is sufficient to convict or not...if convicted, each crime carries its own sentence, the sum of which will reflect the total jail time.
    Appeals go to the 2nd lower court, that re-examines the evidence 'n can either confirm the conviction, or overturn it, 'n even modify the sentence. In the next two (high) courts, STJ, STF, the proof is no longer examined, they should only rule on HC's based on whether legal procedure was followed correctly.

    Have any of Greenwald's /Intercept's leaks been authenticated ? NO. Have any of the accusations been proved ? NO.
    So, just more left-wing whining 'n fake news to throw shit in the fan, which they cannot prove - nor intend to, because they can't - but if it contributes to undermining the vote on the pension reform, and creates unfounded doubts regarding Lula's conviction, that is what matters. The left's tactics are painfully clear.

    I fully predicted it, just confirms how far the taint of corruption permeates the legal system.
    “Those messages raise serious doubts about Moro's impartiality as he presided over Lula's trial. The messages showed him coaching prosecutors on the timing of raids and arrests, asking them to publish press releases to criticize Lula's defense and sending investigative tips while he was legally obliged to remain impartial.
    Moro at first said the leaked messages showed no wrongdoing. As The Intercept published more stories, he changed tactics to say he could not verify if the notes were authentic and that he could not recall whether he had sent them.” Pleading the fifth.
    Not to worry Moro will deliver the answer after another of his many secret trips to the US.

    The bill aims to combat situations where the judge or prosecutor benefits himself or another person, harms someone, and by “whim” or “personal satisfaction,” directs a process.
    By the text, the magistrate will incur abuse of authority if:
    render judgment when prevented by law;
    act with “evident” political motivation;
    expose his opinion, by any means of communication, in the middle of the process, commanded by him or another magistrate.
