Here is, for all to see, the raw cruelty and hypocrisy of a well-off class that won't hesitate to kill and maim when it wants to protect its privileges.

While saying niceties with one side of his mouth, president Piñera has clearly given carte blanche to its sbirs to blow out demonstrators' eyes -- a repressive tactic that has left the unprecedented number of 118 one-eyed persons, which far from being the only odious practice has been assorted by widespread aberrant sexual assault on women and men, ferocious beatings, the firing of rubber bullets with metal core and sometimes the use of real bullets.

To dismiss this heavy price paid by demonstrators, spin doctors will emphasize the destruction of public and private property.

As usual, priorities will show who is who.
