In the last 24 hours, Chile registered 4,648 new coronavirus cases, totaling 259,064 since the pandemic was officially recognized in the country, 17 March, according to the daily report by the Public Health minister Enrique Paris.

Minister Paris made the announcement next to deputy minister Paula Daza and the head of Health networks, Arturo Zúñiga.

The report also indicated that the death toll climbed to 4,903 with the inclusion of another 172 in the last 24 hours.

The number of active positive cases stands at 34,834, of which 2,078 are in intensive care units, 1,751 with respirators and 427 in critical condition

According to the different regions of the country, Magallanes in the extreme south of Chile reported 22 new cases in the last 24 hours. This means that Magallanes since the start of the pandemic has registered 1,385 Covid 19 positive cases.
