What we really have been surprised in life — is how we were taught to reinvent ourselves from fertile alluvial soil to the rocky barren hillsides and literally converted it — into the rich earth that now gives sustence to our family.

In truth, I'm simply just a small farmer in the Aconcagua valley where life has been very good for our family.
During the early 1970s the Allende government nationalized most of our family's land. After the
'73 coup d' état Allende was dead, our family was in near bankruptcy and we did not reaquire our lost farmlands.
I was blessed with an excellent education and was recruted into the naval academy — as our nation was being seriously theatened by an Argentine invasion.
As I said, I was accepted in the signals corps and later served in the reserves. Of the family cousins, I was the only one to wager my inheritance in assuming our family farm.
As far as to the human rights abuses, I fortunately was not a participant and sadly, about 2,800 people lost their life.
Meanwhile, in Argentina it is estimated 30,000 were eliminated in methods that were shocking — including the diabolical harvest of babies before dropping the mother's bodies — by helicopters into the sea...
...as I quoted earlier...
