Human motivation by scorn and greed. INCREDIBLE!
The islanders now owe Argentina for “becoming something” (Something indentured and built by London of course, but 'something' nonetheless.) Everything that is done on the islands is entirely motivated by fighting against Argentina's claim of sovereignty. The revved up plan to develop the islands and Antarctica is nothing but Britain's greedy antagonism meant to confront Argentina's own sovereignty layout. As always, for two centuries now Britain continues to be pinned against this ex Spanish territory with conniving falsehoods and usurping demeanor offering “cordial civil collaboration” as a phony front to attack through, same as with many other countries around the world. It's latest mobster goal alongside the U.S. in Suriname and Guyana. Britain is nothing better than a vulture standing on South America's shores continuing to pick at a Continent it incessantly worked at arming its disputes in order to render it more workable to its thieving exploits, as it still does in the Middle East Asia and Africa. It's the political leach of the planet, always hiding its intentions, seeing the world as its own means sustenance rather than Humanity's home.
If it weren't for Britain's war on the Junta's retaking of the islands, today the Falkland's would not look much different than they did in 1982, save the possibility that Argentina had continued to assist the Islanders in their needs. Just one of the many things which prove that bombs and war were sought entirely by Britain, not Argentina, as war around the islanders, even if it meant the death of some, was what London needed to see happen in order to unfold the plan we see unfolding today. Additionally war was what Britain also needed to effectuate more pressure against Argentina's independent development through the Madrid “Versailles” agreement. How else can you to feed off the world, if you don't bring down those who don't blindly obey but call you on your 'real' record.

I agree that Argentina did the Falkland Islands a great favor in 1982. If Argentina had not invaded the Islands would have slowly drifted into Argentine territory but, as most 3red world countries, they are masters of their own bad judgement and choices.

Is this really the best the BAM Nutall people can do? It looks more or less a copy of the FIPASS design and layout apart from the change from floating to solid structure.
Why not have a one-way system for vehicles so that exit and entry points are separated?
Where is the container lay-down area for cross-docking reefer cargo? Where is the cold store for temporary storage of fishing catches?
Shouldn't the utility supply point's be set back from the quayside to avoid/ mitigate water ingress?
Where will be the gear storage warehouse?
Where will FLTs and reachstackers be parked/ stored?
Is the Gatehouse to be equipped with photo cameras to check condition of containers and record in/out traffic?

In the 21st century, why do nations need to “retake” their “sovereign” territory when the entire world is connected via the internet, The people of the Falklands don’t want to be Argentine, yes these islanders are descended from British settlers, wow! Does that not make them as equal as a person from anywhere else? Why can’t they have their decision to stay British? The islands were originally uninhabited (unlike Argentina which had natives murdered by the Spaniards) so how come Argentinians get the moral right to tell other people they cannot vote because they are “illegitimate”, in the end, why do you Argentines hate innocent people who just want to live their lives in peace without being forced into a nation that is in deep financial problems that said nation defaults 3 times of loans

    Redbaron...

I mostly agree with you..., it looks almost like a FIPASS's slightly bigger brother placed at almost same place...

    Cunning Kelperish wisdom..., imho...

This is only a preliminary design. It will change after meetings with stakeholders.

The location hasn't changed because it doesn't need to, all the infrastructure is already in place. This port will be deeper though

Brian - they could have published this artist's impression months ago - nothing new here after all the visitors' quarantine and all the years of local debate (at least ten). Agree the location is optimal especially for the townsfolk but the port design is in need of a re-think (turbo-charging. Make these consultants work for their fees.

Whoops. I think the Argies on here will lose it when they find out the new commercial dock is to bring in the heavy construction equipment to extend the airport and build new roads. Once done, then it's down to building a bloody lot of settler homes for people who are moving from the UK to the Falklands, oh and the heavy oil drilling equipment etc.

I hear Daily Sport TV are doing a documentary on the Brits emigrating? They'll be hardy folk coming from the North Sea fields.

Just what Theresa May promised in her fine, Prime Ministership! I wonder how they will react in Afgentina? I bet they will be wanting some of those billions in spending and product coming to their ports?

Exciting times for the Islands! Do the other UK and Island posters agree?

Redbaron, these are the “artists impressions” based on what FIG told them. They just put into a computer animation to give people a better view of the preliminary plan. They are having around 60 meetings in two weeks to discuss improvements and what various sectors need. They said in meetings they were unaware of a need for a cold store or warehousing and other things. The final design will be different, but I doubt it will be much larger

3rdWorldBetts(deceased) - So, the islands got some attention, and Argieland got some kind of democracy. Worked out reasonably well then? Pity so many had to die as a result of Argentina's illegal invasion. Still, every cloud, as they say .....

By any measure, we have far more right to be in the S. Atlantic/Antarctic than you have to be in S. America. End of.

    Remember what I told you:

STOP taking the tablets (prescription ones anyway)! They are what is F*cking your head up!!! Babylon System at work here!

They ARE out to get you, NO mistake, look out the window, see, see they are there and they are watching you.

Listen to the voices in your head, you know it makes sense.

Wrap your head in aluminium foil and stick it down the toilet, below the waterline, then they will not be able to “scanner” what you are thinking.

Some Sh*t in the Bog will also help to diffract the signal, then they will not be able to read your thoughts, good luck.

    Burble, Burble.

Basically there has been an almighty cockup by FIG using its “experts” who know little of what actually happens in the Islands even though they live here for a 2 or 3yr contract- who gave BAM Nuttal incorrect and incomplete information!
They were not even asked to look at deeper water location options in Stanley Harbour(which would actually have all needed rock supply just a few hundred metres away!)- just a new port with at least same depth as FIPASS.
Proposed site as they have now found from surveys this last week will actually not be any deeper.

Argue around this all you want Mr Uruguay man illogical liar and others, but you well never be able to complete any logic that negates the validity of this: Neither the FIG nor the people on the islands can correctly nor justly possess any authority or logic to decide over a sovereignty territorial dispute between London and Buenos Aires, even if 3000 British citizens have established their lives on said land, simply because these people and all their predecessors were sent there by Britain to confront that conflict arriving after the dispute started. The logic of this is as simple as water. People sent to help in the usurpation of a land do not posses any naturally occurring “self determination rights” to said land, as is intended in United Nations articles, for example. All this repetitious reasoning that attempts to establish that the islands were British before 1833 or that, the islanders have rights to deny Argentina's right to own possess and incorporate the islands above any British claim, is nothing more than defensive fabrications constructed in the semblance of good reasoning yet in all truth completely false and fake. Hence why your sardonic, angry and hateful, and we're not.

Proposed site as the hearsay goes this last many week will actually go very deep into your soon to be “ex-property”...

    Any truth...?

3rdWorldBetts(deceased) - Please show me where the UN has ever said that any of the peoples of any of the NSGTs do not have the right of self-determination. Easy enough to find plenty of examples where the UN has said that ALL of the peoples of ALL of the NSGTs have the right, but I am unaware of a single instance where the UN has exempted any of the NSGTs. The recent Chagos AO confirmed that the right is tied to the territory. Peoples/populations - they have it, nobody else does.

More importantly, the UK recognises that the Islanders have the right. As the Administrative Power, that's the vote that counts.

The old territorial dispute was resolved in blood.

Now the islanders' right to self-determination trumps all.

Which rather leaves Argentina as irrelevant. And impotent. Of no consequence.

    Hello think,
That's in FIG,s maybe dreams only. Crown Lease says landlord cannot under any circumstances take back land that is used for crop cultivation- without the leaseholder,s agreement- so the only consent route road will take is round the coastline where minimal impact.

@“Trimonde”, You have a Very Long Winded way of writing ! You Write a lot and Say Nothing Argentina has No Argument because it has No Claim and therefore No Case, the only Evidence You have ever provided comes from the Spanish and there is No treaty were Spain gave its Claims to the Americas to Argentina.
As I said before its Just a Children`s Fairy Tale the Myth of “Las Malvinas” just does not exist.

Your use of the word “logic”, is questionable at best.

“People sent to help in the usurpation of a land do not posses any naturally occurring “self determination rights” to said land”

This disenfranchises some 97% of the population of Argentina, so do continue with that.

The British had sovereignty over the whole of the S. Atlantic/Antarctic long before 1833, “defensive fabrications” notwithstanding, where is your evidence to the contrary.

Did Argentina plant their flag in “Las Malvinas” before 1690?

BTW ever heard of paragraphs? Just a thought.

“angry and hatefull”, yes that just about covers it, watch out, the shadow behind you, it’s moving exactly as you do, shout at it, that will make it go away.

    Sweet Dreams.

best site for a permanent shallow water port and storage system to replace the interim one. ideal time for my namesake to return to spearhead the project. for those who don't know the portman employed to oversee the previous spend of £5m+ worked flat out and provided excellent value! deep water port development deferred.
