It would greatly strengthen the moral position of the British government if it acceded to UN demands that it allows the citizens of the island of Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean to return to their homeland after having being forcibly evicted by the British government to make way for a US air base.

The Islands can’t really support human habitation any longer, which was also why they had to leave.

They could sit on a beach and starve if they didn’t die of thirst first.

The UN says the UK should hand the territory over to Mauritius, no mention of any “return” for the so called chagossians.

I doubt very much the Mauritius Gov will want them to return either to the Chagos Islands or Mauritius.
