Yeah 5 Billion Dollars for a Country that is Notorious for Not Paying Back Loans, Good Luck with that one and also considering that Most Finance is moving away from Carbon based Fuel and over to Renewable Energy they Might as well Close down the Vaca Muerta Fields.

This very good news and very generous offer for oil companies. Argentina is very good and safe place for investment And make a lot of money for the capitalistas but we must make sure they create the jobs for the people and pay the very high taxes so everybody win win with Argentina oil and not give away too easy Argentina resources. We are rich country but not a stupid country

Mr Dirk is a bit extremist, although correct in some aspects, renewable is good but natural gas and fracking for oil should increase if the proper tax incentives are in palce and labor goes aloing as it has so far..
Bur Mr Diego must be living in someother country, We are a rich country but if we are not stupid we come close, we dont honour our debts, we are a totally mismanaged country, there is the problem Diego !!! and pls note that what we can manage we simply STEAL and CHEAT....

Just for your kind info..., Sr. atbaires...

When responding to “El Diego” you are interacting with a Non Argentinean posing as an Argentinean posting real dumb concepts in a faux primitive English..., thus allowing widespread criticism against Argentina and Argies by the Anglos posting in her just to do that...

This sites comment section is ~98% dominated by Anglos trashing Argentina due of its position on the Malvinas / Falklands issue...

Dirk Dikkler is one of those Anglos...

Having said all the above..., I wouldn't shed a tear if they closed Vaca Muerta tomorrow...
    Quite the opposite..

Every oil company want work in Vaca Muerta and Argentina because they can make a lot of money but maybe is time for argentine state to take over these companies and make sure vaca muerta money go to argentine people. So I think is very clever to let company invest and set up in argentina and then take over company by argentina state like repsol and we will make a lot of money for all. Then after we can sell at high price to the Chinos. Hugo Chavez do this in Venezuela make a lot of money and then make more money doing deal with the Chinos and Rusos. Very clever plan and Argentine need learn from Venezuela experience

working for the technical teams during the campaign of President Macri, we drew a clear plan, that was highly commended by my friends in London, lets stop arguing about sovereign issues and find common ground in exploration, fisherisl minerals.....Malvinas needs to do its part, or should

    Dear El Diego

    You are truly inspirational!

Now is the time for taking action to overturn the societal injustice!

My best advice is to first infiltrate the universities and form clandestine study groups to debate how to use the subversive methods of Milton Friedman to radically change the Peronist economic structure of Argentina's economy.

Your group should embrace new classical macroeconomics heavily based on the concept of rational expectations.

This would completely overturn the current economic imbalance of your once great land — that a century ago was considered one of the five wealthiest countries in the world!

Comrade Milton Friedman teachings are key to achieving national wealth and lifting the poor out of poverty.

    ¡Viva Milton Friedman!

    Una cosita..., Sr. atbaires...
Let's just invert reality for a couple of minutes.., ok...?

    - Do you Think that your friends in London would have highly commended your clear plan of stopping arguing about sovereign issues and find common ground in exploration, fisheries, minerals, et al..., if the situation was that Argentinean ships had some 200 years ago sailed 10,000 miles North ..., taken by force a bunch of windblown Isles in the North Atlantic..., planted some Martin Fierros and Sargentos Cruz'es on a couple of them and..., based on that..., we Argies claimed total and irrestricted sovereignty over some 15,000,000 square miles of North Atlantic and Arctic territories...?
    - (Politely telling them, your London friends..., each time they dared to ask for negotiations or to protest about the Status Quo to “Bugger off”..., not to forget...)

Just a simple Yes or No from you would suffice for this auld & humble Patagonian paisano...
You may of course elaborate about the topic..., if you so wish...
We live..., today in a free Country..., after all...

For the financial well being of your challenged nation — I sincerely hope the hydrocarbon investments can go forward in a beneficial way for all.

Regarding your views about the Euroglobalistic sympathies reflected by the Scots and Irish — they are always squabbling about something. Boris has effectively told the Eurocrats in Brussels to go and pound sand!

It seems almost everyone disagrees with me — but I see a BREXIT without a rigged agreement as a positive development and Boris has a solid mandate. Both Trump and Boris will prevail despite all the media mendaciously telling us that they're failures. (Yes, I do read the political polls.)

It's another stunning day here in Viña del Mar and yesterday's “Tex-Mex” luncheon party was a popular success with our guests. There is a strong sentiment rising in Chile that the pandemic restrictions — shutting down social gatherings has caused more damage than the cure. (It's also evident the the latest influenza statistics are highly misleading. Mathematical modeling exposes the contradictions.)

Today's late déjeuner avec mon enchanteresse was fresh erizos (sea urchins) with salsa verde, Peruvian style ceviche and lightly roasted razor clams with Pyrenees goat cheese. This was accompanied with chilled Viña Montes Sauvignon blanc. Tonight we'll enjoy thinly sliced poached abalone with avocado on toasted sourdough.

Tomorrows fare include ripe cherimoya, sweet blood oranges and large Ostión Magallánico (sea scallops), but the menu still has not been decided. It's a tough life this weekend! ;)

You can't fix STUPIDITY. Argentina has been and always will be a third world banana Republic. There are no consequences, thus there will be no change. Socialism is the subtle destroyer of the Human Spirit and the treasure chest of the politicians. Jealousy of success is the passion of a socialist. The temptation to steal is just too great for the average politician to resist. It is the socialists answer to his inability to compete. He can't compete and build anything because he doesn't have the ability, so he resorts to strong arm tactics, theft, corruption and is addicted to power. He hates the rich, panders to the poor for votes and lives like a King. It is so imbedded into the soul of an Argentine that there is no chance for a recovery. Winston Churchill summed it up perfectly almost 73 years ago when he said “Socialism is the philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy”. It's been tried over and over again and has invariably ended in failure. Each try they tweak it a little to “ work out the bugs”, but it always has the same ending. Misery for the people. STUPIDITY is not fixable.

Slight disagreement as actually Argentina was at least the FIFTH wealthiest country in the world exactly a century ago.

This afternoon's menu was giant sea scallops with butter sautéd asparagus with a radicchio salad accompanied with chilled champenoise.

Early this morning we were beach-combing for fresh kelp that we carefully washed and will be used later in the week — far better than the dried kelp we buy on the market.

Good point — but how could you ever convince the to domicile in Argentina?

Right now, it's a nightmare for corporations to safely invest in Argentina.

Anyway, it's an interesting proposition — but the really wealthy have diffused their holdings that it's impossible in this modern era to determine anything anymore.

Here in Chile, I know of a young lass who recently flew on a private leased aircraft to a lakeside foundation owned home as the guest of a nonprofit organization. All those expensive holdings cleverly placed non-attached.

Same thing all over the South American continent where our politicians are the masters of hiding assets...

...it's like the supposed bankruptcy of a company trading grains and the assets were deviously reassigned offshore.

Over three decades ago, Madame and I stayed at the Llao Llao Resort in Bariloche — where I learned the resort was built exclusively for Argentine politicians.
