The President of Uruguay, Luis Lacalle Pou, traveled overseas for the first time to meet with Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, in a meeting in which they discussed the idea of “making Mercosur more flexible” and the possibility of a face-to-face summit with the leaders of Argentina and Paraguay at the end of March.     Which country has moved? I thought that both countries were joined by land. It seemed so when I was visiting relatives in Santana do Livramento. I am sure that I walked to Rivera without getting my feet wet.

    Obviously an error in a reporter's composition but the distance from Montevideo to Brasília is a considerable long distance and culturally is to another world.

    The Northern most part of Brazil is actually closer to the United States than to the Southern most part of Brazil.
