Other states, such as Florida have completely reopened completely showing the restrictions don’t work. Unlike most of the European nations, Sweden never shut down its society, or closed their schools, nor instructed their citizens to wear masks. Currently their COVID death rate is ZERO:

The only ones to guide us in this situation are the World Health Organization and the local Department of Health Services which are the ones that qualify to make recommendations for preventing the deadly airborne virus and following the amount of Covid19 and Delta cases and deaths. Trump, Biden, Pelosi, Senators, and Governors were found not wearing masks last year 2020, were seen entering beauty salons

Aug 13th, 2021 - 09:10 pm - Link - Report abuse -1Although wearing a N95 mask is prudent protection — the countries like Israel and Iceland have the highest level of vaccinations — yet the increased infection rates in both two countries still have rose. (In the case of the Palestinian areas having a very low vaccination rate they have also a far lower rate of infection.)
Although I’ve encouraged our extended adult family to be vaccinated with the China Sinovac vaccine I stay very skeptical of mRNA vaccines which are now becoming very controversial.
The (what many believe man made) virus is relentless and continues to mutatelike all virus do. China is obviously not allowing a further investigation — as the evidence points to their Wuhan laboratory.
One thing is certain — this pandemic has deeply harmed the older generations as well as the infirm. It has bankrupted many great businesses and caused great unemployment.

years to improve.
I am not scared of anything, I follow my physician's advice, not the STUPID politician's rattlings.
The FDA will approve all vaccines soon and like any other viruses such as influenza or
pneumonia we all must be cautious.
Unfortunately I do not see a cure of this virus unless it dies out on its own. The vaccines seem only to cause it to mutate to another variant.

There are today very effective treatments to recover from COVID-19 including remdesivir have been discovered and I sincerely wish you good health.

Most vaccines reinforce the defense in our bodies to fight the Covid19 and its variants and there is nothing wrong with that.

There is current evidence that the mRNA vaccines are not slowing the advance of infections.
I have been very cooperative with our ministry of health encouraging our employees receive vaccinations because the Sinovac is NOT a mRNA vaccine.
What I personally believe is this virus was man made and unfortunately China will not be punished as they wield economic power.

We have an incompetent Trump-lite Prime Minister who would have just 'let it rip' if he had been able to and through a grand display of dumbfuckery has seen the country only 25% double vaxxed as Delta has arrived.
We have 'Gold Standard' Glady's in NSW who currently is trying and failing to impose a 'mockdown' on Sydney to control Delta. A mockdown so draconian that - over a year late to the party - is going to wreack havoc in that state.
For the rest of Australia? A snap lockdown here, a snap lockdown there - Metropolitan Melbourne is currently going through their 6th.
For the rest of us life just goes on. NSW borders are closed to the rest of the country so that Gladys and Slomo can't escape.
What you could rightfully compare us to is North Korea due to our international border restrictions which are much the same as Chile's. That said I did have a very pleasant few weeks holiday in New Zealand in July.
The great sadness in my life at present is that it is now 20 months since I was last in Chile.

My references about a Soviet situation is due to the severe lockdown measures of restricting liberty is specific areas of Australia. I’m not against vaccines although I remain skeptical of mRNA technology.
When Chile first announced its first lockdown our family dutifully complied and for the 15 day duration my wife and I sheltered in solitary. We actually cancelled our Easter 2020 celebration.
Since that “flatten the curve” debacle we’ve witnessed that lockdowns have been useless and frankly has caused nothing but unnecessary suffering in our country.
The economic hardships encountered by the lower-skilled here have borne the worst of the economic losses.
I also had the privilege to briefly know your great country two decades ago and I cannot believe your nation’s authorities have allowed the loss of individual liberty.

Hospitals are running out of Intensive Care Units (ICU) rooms nationwide here in the USA. If people continue ignoring the necessity of wearing a face mask this battle of fighting the virus won't end this year!

As I mentioned I’m not against vaccines and all the adult members of our extended family have been vaccinated with Sinovac from China.
There are some unanswered new questions that contradict my thoughts about this. For example — why is Iceland infections on the rise even though they have one of the highest rates of vaccination? Also, why Gibraltar? Specifically there is the case of Israel with a very high percentage of vaccination — yet is experiencing a virus increase — while the nearby Palestinian areas that have a significantly lower rate of vaccination are also reporting far less infections.
Nothing is making sense and as the virus uses non-human hosts — will probably not be eliminated.
I understand why medical science needs to be followed — yet the loss of individual freedom over more than a years time I find very troubling.
As an exporter of fruit — we’ve actually profited greatly due to the pandemic although the field-laborers are economically suffering greatly. Food prices are seeing significant increases. We are anticipating a severe increase in food prices.
In any case — although I think the lockdown has been draconian to say the least — all the best regards and I do respect your opinion.

Australian politics - our ruling party calls itself 'Liberal' but they are quite far - by our standards - right wing. Only further to the right are the people they share government with - the Nationals. The Nationals claim to represent rural Australia but in reality only represent coal mining interests in Queensland.
I can understand the people of Sydney being unhappy about this hardening of the lockdown being announced on twitter on a Saturday afternoon but the people who are really unhappy are the people of rural NSW and the rest of Australia. They are very unhappy that Gladys didn't go in hard 8 weeks ago when the delta variant first turned up in Sydney.
Through her actions and the vaccine rollout failure it would appear that Australia has managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

We got Astra Zenaca in the first week it was on offer (March) , all extended family over 20 have now had either that or Phizer.
Panquehue? Passed through that general area - I recall Villa Alemana - when we came down from Ecuador by bus in November '19. The bus took back roads to try and avoid the unrest - still copped a bit. That was an interesting trip over about ten days or so.

Chile originally planned to use one of the mRNA vaccines — but due to lack of availability — elected the Chinese Sinovac vaccine (which utilizes an inactivated virus instead of mRNA technology) and have achieved a 68.5% fully vaccinated population — the highest in Latin America.
Unfortunately Chile is not as developed nor as wealthy as your country to compensate its populace during what has been a severe economic crisis for people unemployed due to the lockdowns.
The wealth disparity has greatly enlarged — but in our neighboring countries has become a complete nightmare. Argentina is a sad example due to their irresponsible economic management.
In any case — although it seems you visited my country during a very serious eruption of violence — Chile is normally peaceful and will survive this unfortunate pandemic. (As a nation we’ve lost over 350,000 lives so far.)
Panqueque is a small village near our farmhouse located in the Aconcagua Valley where we produce table grapes and avocados.
