Germany is recalling that sixty years ago the communist half of the divided country started to build the Berlin Wall, which would stand as a symbol of oppression and division, until the reunification of the country in late 1989. Read full article

I saw that obscenity first hand and crossed the fortified border in the early sixties repeatedly to visit family in the German 'socialist paradise'. Remember, the Ulbricht regime claimed to be protecting themselves against outside foreign infiltration when, of course, quite the opposite was true. It should serve as a lesson to all who listen to the pronouncements of proponents of a state 'paradise'. I also was privileged to witness the fall of the monstrosity and treasure a small concrete memento to this day.
