The Government of Argentina has officially included US$ 664 Million in funding for the purchase of 12 PAC JF-17A Block III fighters........seems might expensive for these!
How much of that is for purchase and how much for back-handers?
Well, if you can’t afford and/or can’t buy F16s, then these are probably as good a bet as any.
After all they will need some sort of air cover/intercept capability going forward.
Not least if some drug crazed Falklandister jihadi, hijacks an airliner with the Argentinian national football team on board, and crashes it into the Casa Rosada.
After all you wouldn’t need weapons, smuggle enough Dollars onto the plane and you could bribe the pilot.
Why does Argentina need expensive fighter planes? Who is Argentina going to go to war with? Propeller aircraft would fill all of Argentina's needs at little cost. Countries of the world could save a lot of money if they all agreed to down size their militaries to what they really need, not what makes them feel big and bad as the big countries.

One minor flaw with your initial plan - how would you bribe a pilot to commit suicide?
Where and how is he going to spend his ill gotten gains?
The Argentines already domestically produces the IA-63 Pampa two-seater advance jet trainer and light attack aircraft designed and manufactured jointly by Argentina-based Fabrica Militar de Aviones and Dornier of Germany.
Although my country has valid reasons for acquiring General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcons — as we are constantly in defense from our neighbors — Argentina has no threat of invasion. They only have to control their airspace.

Rep of Ireland has no jets, but an agreement with the UK to provide an intercept capability, at their request.
