Argentina's Antarctica and South Atlantic Islands Affairs Secretary, Guillermo Carmona was recently in Peru to prop support for the campaign planned to reinstate the Falklands/Malvinas dispute top of the country's international agenda, in coincidence with the 40th anniversary of the 1982 conflict that followed Argentina's invasion of the Islands. “Malvinas sovereignty is a state policy and is included in the Argentine constitution as an unrenounceable objective”

    Horse feathers!
They just can’t do anything without being in breach of international law to wit: None-interference in the internal affairs of other countries as echoed in this UBGA resolution. Ref.: 2225(XXI) The General Assembly, Reaffirming the principle of non-intervention, proclaimed in the charters of the Organization of American States, … Recognizing that full observance of the principle of the non-intervention of States in the internal and external affairs of other States is essential to the fulfilment of the purposes and principles of the United Nations, Considering further that direct intervention, subversion and all forms of indirect intervention are contrary to these principles and, consequently, constitute a violation of the Charter of the United Nations, …1. No State has the right to intervene, directly or indirectly, for any reason whatever, in the internal or external affairs of any other State.Consequently, ..and all other forms of interference or attempted threats against the personality of the State or against its political, economic and cultural elements, are condemned.
…6. All States shall respect the right of self-determination and independence of peoples and nations, to be freely exercised without any foreign pressure,

“Peru has been a traditional ally of Argentina. Liberated from the Spanish empire by General Jose de San Martín the two countries have a regional geopolitical situation with neighbouring Chile,.....”

“Guillermo Carmona was recently in Peru to prop support for the campaign planned to reinstate the Falklands/Malvinas dispute top of the country's international agenda....”

Just another useless effort by Carmona - it certainly doesn't say much about Peru's foreign policy......

And, to believe they were liberated by General José de San Martin, is a load of crap, but it's what they teach kids at school in Peru, and in Argentina.

Fact is, San Martin was a coward and a thief.....who really cleared the way for the Chileans and the Peruvians to get rid of the Spaniards, was Lord Thomas Cochrane, as Commander-in-Chief of the Chilean navy (before he was reinstated in the British Navy and became Admiral) ; San Martin was the leader of the land forces, but 'somehow' always found a way to be delayed, and miss the battles in which he was supposed to support Cochrane who attacked from the sea....just a coincidence which occurred more than once.

Near the end of the liberation war, San Martin showed he had other plans, and actually declared himself “Protector of Peru”, and tried to co-opt Cochrane into breaking ties with Chile, in exchange for the title of First Admiral of Peru.....Cochrane declined the offer.

After seeing his plans go south, San Martin then used his men to loot the riches of the elite in Lima, and proceeded to set sail to Spain with his ill-gotten gains....
Cochrane caught on to his betrayal, but let him set sail...he then went after him, and once out of sight of land, boarded his ship and relieved him of his loot - which he later returned to the Limeño elite - and sent San Martin back to Spain, empty handed.

So much for the myth of a wanna-be tyrant , and coward.

    Good observations about Lord Cochrane!

We currently residing at the coast and will celebrate our farm celebration in Panquehue.

Christmas will be celebrated at Chicureo and at New Years at Viña del Mar.

The grape harvest will start harvesting in late February and although the market is anticipated to be excellent — we anticipate massive price increases!

    2020 will be very expensive!

    My very best regards!

    Pugol

Carmona is just trying to justify his job....he, as well as his mission are irrelevant outside of Argyland.

”This in other words means making the Malvinas question not only an Argentina question but a regional cause, with which the Peruvians are so identified”.

His attempt to turn a purely Argy issue in a regional cause is weak and pathetic....Brazil for one, prefers the Falklands as they are. And what interest could Peru, on the Pacific coast of South America, have in the Falklands ???

    Chicureo

We have talked before about Cochrane and the liberation war in South America, and it is pathetic how some nationalistic historians deliberately misrepresent historical facts.

In Brazil, later on in life, but never too late, I realized that half the stuff they teach the kids about Brazilian history, besides going into irrelevant detail (not enough important stuff to write about ?) is not the entire truth (they omit the facts that might look bad and embellish what suits them).

This year has indeed been a strange one, in many aspects.....will be nice to the end of it...and hope that the next will be better.......always the optimist..................................... Nevertheless, good to see that both you and Pugol are alive and kicking !

    Saludos !

Glad to hear you still alive and kicking my friend.

We seem to have the same problem with the French at the moment, every bi-lateral issue they try and turn into a UK, EU issue.

I put it down to them not wanting to ‘take on’ the UK alone.

‘This year has indeed been a strange one’, ‘hope that the next will be better’.

    Amen to that.

    Stay well and keep smiling.

Chicureo, besides obviously studying about Cochrane's achievements in Peru, Chile and Brazil, did you ever read any books on his life ? One of many that I've read, and probably mentioned before, is the “Narrative of Services in the Liberation of Chili, Peru and Brazil, from Spanish and Portuguese Domination” (02 volumes), written by Cochrane himself, and tells the facts as they were.

“Although the political situation in South America is uncertain — 2022 should be exceptionally profitable!”

Agree, the political situation and uncertainty in South America, which unfortunately seems to be a constant - each government that takes over ignores and usually discontinues the good done previously, the countries' basic needs and focuses mainly on the personal gain of its members, and power, for the sake of power - won't affect me very much, but it will increase social unrest, poverty and political polarization... ....not good for any country, much like all this 'wokeness' and 'leftism' floating around, destroys values and creates chaos.

But, as they say, “It's an ill wind that blows nobody any good”.....

    Saludos desde San Pablo !!!

Cochrane's glorious legacy is apart my country’s history — obviously is yours as well.

History points different historical versions depending which country you describe — but I’ve practicably read many of the accounts. Truly the Wolf the Sea!

Perhaps you’ll both know my country is about to be in a political change — which currently is very uncertain.

Attached is article that covers the subject: https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2021/12/01/chile-presidential-election-reform-backlash/

“History points different historical versions depending which country you describe...”

Certainly does, which implies that some (versions) are right, others not so much (twisted the facts to make their national heroes look good - fake news is nothing new), or simply ignore what goes against their heroes narrative.

The dozen or so different authors who did extensive research based on the official Naval documents of the time, newspaper articles and Cochrane's letters - both received and sent - only differ in their style of writing, but all give you an accurate account of the events.

Have been following political events in Chile - not too closely, I confess - but one thing stands out (as in all LatAm countries) .....the people's incapacity to see through the politicians' bs promises, and their short memory.... despite continual economic disasters as a result of leftist governments, they are still easily fooled into thinking socialism is utopia.

Meanwhile, “back at the ranch”, good to see that we can still enjoy life, despite an envious F*cktwitt who feels a warm sensation in the seat of his pants as he distributes “dislike” points to those he can't keep up with....he's a real joke..

I totally agree of your observations about Lord Cochrane!

Weather here is highly pleasant and I’m exceptionally pleased well of the current avocado market liquidations! (Inflation however will be a shock for the final market prices!)

The Chilean export association is anticipating a major port strike probably in January.

I note that our Mormon from Utah is bored with my current vacation activities — which certainly are driving the idiot into mad envy and jealousy! (What a pathetic excuse of life!)

Our farm celebration will be held on Saturday the 18th and our family Christmas celebrations in Chicureo — New Years will be in Viña del Mar!

The farm wine selections will include Casillero del Diablo as well as last year! This years farm party we’ll have a large gathering and we already have all the permits approved.

Meanwhile we are truly enjoying life as I certainly hope you and all those you care for as well!

Today’s le déjeuner includes a marvelous Chilean ceviche and includes an excellent Viña Morandé Sauvignon Blanc from Casablanca.

The all important floral decorations are all in place and seven guests invited, with fresh seafood and some really marvelous hors d'oeuvres.

The canapés will start with scallop skewers with fresh mango and saffron sauce to begin the meal and today’s menu is elaborate, including a marvelous Strawberry Fraisier — consisting of a light chiffon cake flavored with Lillet blanc, fresh strawberries, and a sliceable pastry cream

Our typical ceviche recipe we use use frozen salmon filets (as the freezing kills most parasites) and let the fish only slightly defrost so to easily cube the fish into uniform cubes with a sharp knife.

About a half cubed raw salmon with 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice, cherry tomatoes. 1/4 cup red onion thinly cut, 1 chili pepper to your taste, 1/4 cup cilantro chopped, 3 Hass avocados uniformly cubed, salt and pepper to taste. In a large bowl add the citrus juice and fish and wait for 5 minutes then add the rest and toss.

As far as our misfit residing in Utah — everyone has learned his actual misery and pathetic plight. (I hope Skippy does seek bariatric surgery — as he truly needs it desperately.)

Meanwhile the day is truly spectacular!

“As far as our misfit residing in Utah”

You should know since he’s your sock-puppet.

    Malignant Narcissist.
A special sub-type of narcissist that has also some traits of ASPD, such as aggressiveness, deceitfulness, and remorselessness. They are often sadistic and gain pleasure from hurting others.

Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD). A type of personality disorder in which a person has grandiose fantasies of success and power with few or no achievements behind the fantasies. People with the disorder are constantly comparing themselves to others and feeling envious. They may also feel others are envious of them. They believe they are unique and entitled to special treatment, admiration, and obedience. In addition, they lack emotional empathy and have a willingness to exploit others for their own benefit.

Neurotypical. A term once used to describe individuals who were not on the autism spectrum, it is now used as a term to contrast individuals who do not have a particular mental or behavioral disorder with those who do.

Overt Narcissist. A “garden-variety” or typical narcissist whose emotional displays, grandiosity and feelings of entitlement and superiority are on obvious display to others.

Psychopath/Sociopath. Considered to be sub-types of ASPD where the criteria must include disregard of laws and norms.

Well, you would know as he’s your own sock-puppet.

    “When the Narcissist Fails
When things begin to sour for the narcissist here is what we can expect: They will try to first misdirect us or claim there is nothing to the allegations or circumstances. If evidence is presented, they will seek to have it invalidated or claim that it is false, but most certainly not true.
Any evidence presented, and those that present it will be attacked vindictively. The better the evidence the more aggressive the attack. Individuals who are doing the right thing unethical behavior, or failings are to be discredited, and bullied. The narcissist will engage enablers to simultaneously attack those who offer proof or evidence, even if it embarrassingly exposes their behavior as that of spineless sycophants.
Expect lies to increase, with evidence to the contrary. Lies are always the number one tool of the MN. The lies must increase to the point of incredulity. The narcissist will expect, the enablers to lie for them.
Some will hound, stalk, those they deem responsible.
That is when we have to worry the most. One of note, was to— to make Germany great again.

Chicureo, by the way you treat yourself to good food and wine, looks like it might be hard to cook up anything more special for big celebrations.....only the number of guests vary.

Skippy - or Terence Clagnut - makes no difference, as his name won't change the disaster he is, has the nerve to claim he is not envious - “Despite an envious....”, and carries on with the “No proof no, truth” crap.......all you need to do is read his silly posts (what a bore !) - to see how easily he becomes offended, which shows we've hit the bullseye.

    Terry, “The Clagnut” Hill

why do you insist on repeating the same posts, over and over again ? Ex : -

“12 Jack Bauer; “..'Military dictatorship', ..history is showing,.. that it was good for Brazil”...

I know I should probably be thanking you instead of pointing out what an irrelevant piece of junk you are, as you keep on doing everyone the favour of posting that Lulla was a corrupt SOB, and that the Military regime was good for Brazil.....the idiots who disagree either never set foot in Brazil, or were never here between 1963/4 and 1985.....your only experience with the military, as has been amply publicized on here, is your time with the RAF, as a lavatory cleaner.

Fact is, all leftists, such as those that defend the Latin American version of socialism (closer to communism than they like to admit) are stupid idiots ...anyone with a minimum of political culture knows that capitalism 'makes' while socialism 'takes....proof is that is the resulting havoc in every country they get into power - just look at Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua and Brazil during the PT administrations.

So, easy to conclude that if they defend such a system, it's because they are either ignorant idiots and depend on handouts, or stand to gain something 'for-free' through it (usually hardworking people's taxes)

If you can't make it in a free-market society, it's obvious you will defend a system whereby you can be a lazy b*stard, while someone else (the taxpayer) supports you.
