Boric's comment was in 2013. Perhaps he has learned something since then.
Not sure that Argentina should be celebrating as Chile is about to submit its arguments to the UNCLOS regarding their own claims to the continental shelf and the Antarctic Peninsula.
“The answer is simple. The Falklands belong to Argentina. They just happen to have been seized, occupied, populated and defended by Britain. ... The Falklands were seized for Britain in January 1833 during an era of dramatic colonial expansion.Apr 1, 2007 https://www.theguardian.com › apr

I find that very interesting and telling of where those financial strings maybe come from or be tied to.
It never goes past the money for you, does it?
Not renouncing Chilean claims in the Antarctic then.
Bolivian access to the sea is not going to go down at all well in Chile, I would guess.
Well now he is elected, he has time to regret things he said before he was elected.
Like Boris Johnson when he used to write a newspaper column before he was elected PM, describing Turkish president Erdoğan as ‘the wankera from Ankara’.
Just received results of a poll of the Chileans I know in the region -- the XII region from whence Boric comes -- and with just one exception, the consensus describes the government-elect as Gobierno Chatarra. For the monolingual, that would be Junk Government.
One in Punta Arenas described Boric as Baby Allende with tattoos.
Wonder how long this one will last before his first impeachment.
Brasileiro, the islands have never been Argentinian legally and never will be unless the islanders want it that way, do some genuine research and you will be surprised,
Who does not know that the Islas Malvinas are Argentine? All English pythons, all kelpers know it. It is the last remaining colonial stronghold in the world. From the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries when his majesty's pirates walked the seas with their ships under sails, plundering and looting there. That idiot Benjamin, as in those days when they flaunted English tea but it was Indian tea, now flaunts his of him Argentine penguins as if they were British. The Chilean Boric does not say anything new. He just says a no-brainer but we thank him anyway.
Well Tank, you have Chicureo convinced, although I retain a doubt. Your English appears improved since yesterday at least. If it is you, I am glad that our mourning was premature.
So where have you been?
For the others, if Argentina had a claim, it would take it to the ICJ. Although it seems that Argentina's current candidate for a seat on the ICJ - Marcelo Kohen - after initially advising the Government in Buenos Aires to take Britain to the Court, suddenly reversed his opinion. Then advising the Kirchners not to take a case to the Haig.
If Argentina's own candidate does not trust the ICJ to come up with the 'right' (for Argentina) decision, it seems to me that Argentina has no hope left. No move left.

Actually Judge Jose. The Islands were more Argentine than any other country's when the British came back to usurp our settlement and rob them. There were administrative hunting laws, paying and finances, official declarations of incorporation to the United Provinces sent to international embassies and news venues. Children born on the islands under the Argentine flag. ... None of these things either Britain nor Spain could boast.
The problem is that you and everyone else indoctrinated in this world by the English language has never learned these facts because you were only taught what Britain wants you to know and disseminate. At best Argentine facts are re interpreted by Britain and America or the English language let's just say, in ways that attempt to lessen their validity and discredit them. Like they do with every single other situation in world history they have been abusive in.
