Wishing all the best wishes to all the MercoPress readership!

We’re all set for a “moderate” festive celebration to welcome the New Year’s!

Although the year has been very challenging — fortunately our healthy family have ALL prospered.

Both the Mayor of Valparaíso and the of Viña del Mar have confirmed that the fireworks shows will be held — which ideally will be observed from our apartments.

The diverse menu will be highlighted with a Catalan style seafood paella and a wide variety of exquisite selection of tapas! I’m greatly cheered that a grower from Copiapo sent two boxes of premium quality grapes for good wishes.

¡Saludos cordiales desde Viña del Mar!

“...Argentine Central Bank has been issuing pesos at a frantic pace ...”

    Yup.

AR$ further approaching worthlessness. What a ....surprise.

I must say that you personally have amused me greatly over this past year!

You can always revert to EUROS € or even the RENMINBI ¥ — or perhaps suggest you instead try trading in BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.)

I sincerely wish you and your family good health and prosperity.

    @ basurero,

Dollars. Only the successful need care about dollars and values relative to dollars. Go back to your unwashed sleep.

    Gracias Chicureo!

In a multipolar world, it is natural that the different mechanisms that guide and provide liquidity to the economy multiply.

I believe that the SWIFT international payment system should face competition from other international payment systems, notably those developed by Russia and China, members of the BRICS.

It would be a solution to the excesses of an extremely leveraged and unsustainable economy like the United States. Of course, the dollar would lose its status as a single international reserve currency.

The criminal economic sanctions practiced by the USA and its satellites would lose effect.

Feliz Ano Novo ao Chicureo e a todos os leitores de Mercopress!

Hope you had a nice Christmas (am sure you did) and wish you a great 2022.

Now to the irrelevant stuff - “in a multipolar world,.......” ?????

Brasshole indeed has an unintended knack of making people laugh - at him. Don't know where he gets his weird ideas from - perhaps from misunderstanding all he reads ? - but the new year promises more laughs.

    @ Jack B

I think basurero means bipolar and not multipolar. And he's trying to tell us he is going to convert all fifteen of his US dollars fortune into argie pesos.

    Feliz año

Jack, I once mentioned the Sebastianist nutjobs who sacrificed people at Pedra Bonita in the early 1800s in my usual snarky way, and he replied that he had read about them in a communist political magazine. No doubt they were presented as exemplars worthy of emulation. Obviously, his sources for history are “interesting.”

An amusing observation in Chile's press yesterday on the crashing AR peso. “.... the peso once ”equal to a dollar,“ today is not worth half a cent.”

“El peso argentino, la moneda que fue ”igual a un dólar“ y que hoy no vale ni medio centavo ”

    https://www.biobiochile.cl/noticias/economia/actualidad-economica/2022/01/03/el-peso-argentino-la-moneda-que-fue-igual-a-un-dolar-y-que-hoy-no-vale-ni-medio-centavo.shtml

The article goes on to note that the accumulated inflation in Argentina since 2002 has been 434 percent. And that a basket of basic household food necessities that cost 61 ARS at the end of 2001 now costs over 10,000 ARS.

The worthlessness of a nation, expressed through its currency

Personal offenses and no arguments. This is the elite of Western neoliberalism.

No wonder English civilization is melting!

The basurero probably doesn't even know what multipolar means, but in his delusion about how the world works, he thought he would sound smart.....his conclusion, “..... it is natural that the different mechanisms that guide and provide liquidity to the economy multiply” is really quite amusing.
Well with his 15 US dollars, he'll be able to survive 15 days on 'choripans'....

Brasshole still believes Dom Sebastian will return....his awareness of the event, allegedly through a commie political rag, must be because the “Sebastianist nutjobs” were against the concept of private property.....typically communist and of brainwashed people like him, who haven't the slightest intellectual capacity to ever own property....he works in an agricultural commune in Paraná, where he is told what to do from sunrise to sunset and doesn't have to think for himself.

He is incapable of presenting an intelligent argument to back up his nutty claims, so he just tries to disqualify what he doesn't, and will never have.
