A “nutty” initiative, Tierra del Fuego governor Gustavo Melella described the proposal by several Argentine lawmakers to create in Congress a Malvinas Islands bench, which would remain empty covered with an Argentine flag until the legitimate occupier arrives, a symbolic sovereignty claim over the Islands 'usurped' by Great Britain. I think it makes a lot of sense. Imagine Vernet's settlement never being attacked by the Americans, and the British accepting the sensible notion that the islands ought to belong to the new Argentine nation, rather than continue trying to forge their logistical military presence on the other of the world from them, where there were no colonies or territories belonging to them anywhere near. The islands would've continued on the path of steady progress Vernet had started, with a growing sense of achievement whilst under the Argentine flag, resulting in a independent sentiment not so different to how all the other provinces came to be. It makes sense, just like it makes sense that Tierra del Fuego is its own province. It's most likely what would've resulted, had the British been respectful and sensible knowing how to cut their loses when something else surpasses their plans or their own rights as in this case. Instead they egocentrically exploited the fact that the Argentinians would not be able to fend them off. It was just too tempting for them put their boot on top of another easy conquest and pick up another easy self adulating trinket to place under their belt, even thought in truth it made no geopolitical sense at the time or even in the long run, as the dormant ensuing 150 years would prove. The British gave in to their lesser lust for feeling they can beat someone and not let a weaker nation have something when they could easily take it from them. That's really what has always been behind it at the motivational level. It's like even today they never stop taking the islands in order to feed some need to feel victorious. Quite pathetic when you think about it; we're talking about a a much smaller country that never cared to be militarily menacing in any way, seeking always to be Britain's friend, stupidly enough. Anyways, I think it's the right idea, I never agreed with them being included in TdF, just like I think naming Stanley Puerto Argentino makes no sense.
Mar 10th, 2022 - 02:13 pm - Link - Report abuse -3I’ll say it again ‘You, have no idea how or what we think’, or what motivates us.

Those who want more among others, are naturally a lot more transparent to the observation of the wise, than the average majority. And BABY, I think we can all agree on the fact that the UK and US want a lot more of the world, than the average rest does. When it comes to Britain and the Islanders, their actions could not be more revealing of their motivation and intentions. Sorry... you may try to hide your reasons through apparent normality, but you are move obvious than a blue sheep. Your policies towards the islands are practically a defensive profile of affirmation and advances directly drawn from reacting to everything Argentina says and does about the islands or Antarctica and the South Atlantic. It's like your bullying social characteristic must always have an enemy to focus on in order to kick into action. It's quite amusing. The jealous insolent soreness of the world, making it 10 times harder for the rest of its nations to near a future of peace, always ready to move into position at the drop of a dime. The planet needs you to be gone. Word!

Replacement Stink is doing it to wind you up, it is what he does, ‘civil’ he does not do.
It's pretty ridiculous that in a world suffering hunger poverty and endless wars, the British feel they can claim as theirs inhospitable areas we will never be able to permanently settle, half a world away where they don't even live in, on a planet 7 billion people must equally share simply because they take pride in the defiance and challenge of it, when they already are disproportionately using, destroying and polluting more than the majority of all other countries do. And when I say destroying I do mean politically and physically fueling wars and manufacturing arms and weapons for the the rest to destroy each other with. A real global cancer if you ask me whose disappearance could only bring a sigh of relief to us all. At least Argentina and Chile are closer to Antarctica than any other country in the world is, if anything it makes much more sense at a self sustainability and ecological level that these are the two countries with more right to accessing and making use of these lands.
Mar 10th, 2022 - 09:51 pm - Link - Report abuse -2These stupid people actually believe that because they sent a ship with a bunch of explorers and had their Queen declare ownership of this polar territory, their right supersedes the sensibility of sharing a world among all of humanity. This is nothing but the illness that a monarchical system installs in the minds of a society which though is living in the 21 century still believes they are some great empire or kingdom in a medieval fantasy world, convinced that their glorious right reigns supreme above the rest of us in the world. The world is getting smaller while their heads are getting larger. This can only spell one tragic outcome, ultimately... something will give, and after that, the world will be so much more comfortable.

Mar 11th, 2022 - 04:53 pm - Link - Report abuse +2It's pretty ridiculous that the implanted population in Argentina, coming from half a world away, then try and tell the British that they have no right to be in the S. Atlantic/Antarctic, which when the British arrived was uninhabited, unexplored and unclaimed, unlike S. America.
Yes, the British discovered then explored then claimed their Antarctic Territory.
Whereas Argentinians sat in an office in BA, about a hundred years later, looking at a British map and drew some lines on it.
And if you look on a map, you will see that it is British Territory in the S. Atlantic that is closer to Antarctica than any other country in the world
And you talk about a ‘fantasy world’?
