The war in Ukraine is at the forefront of our minds in the Falkland Islands community, not least as it brings back strong memories of 40 years ago, when our peaceful home was also invaded by a hostile neighbor, intent on seizing land and assuming sovereignty, without concern for the safety, security or rights of the people living here. - Let's hope that your hard earned charity monies end into the pockets on the now ruling third generation of filty rich, corrupt Ukrainian oligarchs and not into buying arms to kill minorities...

Mar 10th, 2022 - 04:07 pm - Link - Report abuse +2Wot, like Kharkiv, a mainly Russian speaking city with a 25.6% ethnic Russian population, or Mariupol with 44.4% ethnic Russian population, both currently under siege and heavy bombardment by the Russian army, where both groups, Ukrainian and Russian, are fiercely resisting all attempts by the Russian army to ‘liberate’ them.
No doubt film of the destroyed cities and scattered body parts will be show in Russia as evidence of ‘ethnic violence’ against the Russian minority.
Like the shelling along the line of control in the Donbas, which was overwhelmingly coming from the Russian side, not least because the Ukrainians simply didn’t have the ammunition available even to reply.
Had the Russians confined themselves to just ‘liberating’ the Donbas region, they wouldn’t be in the sh*t they are now, both in the Ukraine and with the rest of the world.
Never let the truth get in the way of a good story, eh.
