‘Celebrations’, yep, that is the word for it.

Celebration of an unprovoked and totally unjustified invasion of a peaceful neighbour, by a ruthless military junta which disappeared thousands of its own citizens.

‘peace zone in the South Atlantic’, yet they celebrate the last war they started, which means it will probably happen again as the only thing they see wrong about it was that it failed.

Newsflash Taiana, the S. Atlantic is peaceful, Argentina is exclude and the Pax Britannica is in full effect.

‘build “an awareness of the war in Argentina”’, yeah, yeah just don’t forget to mention YOU F*CKING LOST, leaving a lot of dead conscripts you forgot to take home with you.

For an alternative view, a very rare thing in Argentina these days:

You commemorate the dead, not celebrate a war you lost and the needless death of many, the country and people seriously need to mature and move on,

Just a couple of small points. 1). Stanley, or as it was in 1982, Port Stanley, was never named “Puerto Argentino”, it was never ratified in law. and 2). Are they celebrating the deaths of hundreds of Argentine soldiers, or the invasion of a tiny country? If it's the former, that is sick and if it is the latter, that is just a tiny bit like Germany “celebrating” the invasion of Poland, something that would never happen in the civilised world.

And just for you Wænk: acknowledge (a significant or happy day or event) with a social gathering or enjoyable activity. I think the key word just there is “enjoyable”. Another, from the Cambridge Dictionary: to take part in special enjoyable activities in order to show that a particular occasion is important.

Most Germans today view World War II through the prism of guilt, responsibility and atonement. And almost all agree that the defeat of the Nazis was a good thing. Shouldn't the same be true for the Argentines and the Falklands War?

For whatever happened in 1833 Argentinians can't seem to grasp that their invasion in 1982 was an illegal and unwarranted act of force.

Senor Taenk, without doubt you are a very childish man, probably a very insecure one who has neither any friends or a life of note, your debating skills are none existent and as Juan says extremely immature, you think you are being clever with your insults but quite the contrary, it just shows you up to be what he says you are, i concur with him, you need to grow up,

    - “Most Germans today view World War II through the prism of guilt, responsibility and atonement...”

    I say...:
    - Some Engrish Anglos today seem to view all them wars they provoked since 1945 through the prism of pride, irresponsibility and exceptionalism...:

    2) 1944–45 Insurgency in Balochistan
    3) 1944–1948 Greek Civil War

Nothing wrong to mourn their fallen soldiers. But not on the day they started the war in which the soldiers fell, and which Argentina lost. They are still “celebrating” the invasion as if it was something good. Quite absurd. The Germans do not celebrate the “heroes of the polish campaign”, for good reasons. They have grown up and have good relations with their former enemies. I hope that 40 years from now the Russians will not celebrate the “Special Military Operation” in Ukraine every 24 of February. Only the Argentines do do such stupid things. No remorse.

B.T.W. ..., as the Argie Constitution clearly states on its very first lines...:
    - “La recuperación de dichos territorios y el ejercicio pleno de la soberanía, respetando el modo de vida de sus habitantes, y conforme a los principios del derecho internacional, constituyen un objetivo permanente e irrenunciable del pueblo argentino...”
    - Ergo..., Argie Veterans Day celebrations honour the fallen..., by avoiding the killing of their descendants, progeny or lineage in any other Turnipy form of armed conflict...

If indeed this was to “celebrate” or “commemorate” those who lost their lives, and to scorn and condemn the evil that sent them to war on a lie, then so be it.

But of course it isn't, the Argentine officials repeat the same lie, provoke the same discontent, and show no remorse.

The Falklands are not Argentine, they are not occupied illegally, and they are only British because Argentina keeps threatening the inhabitants.

Those who died would be better respected and celebrated by dropping the lie, dropping the false claim, and ideally dropping Peronism in all its forms.

Taenk, you can twist things any way you want, and quote what ever drivel you like but the word celebrate is not the appropriate word, for an illegal invasion a lost war and a remembrance of the fallen in battle,

Of course it was, Wænk. You're up there with the rest of the conspiracists. If you don't like it so much why not just read La Nacion?

Argentina celebrates the invasion every year. You know full well it is wrong and you hide behind a smoke-screen of idiot words, trying to justify a military dictatorship's stupidity.

Why do you “celebrate”, of commemorate (the actual word that ought to be used) the deaths of so many before the actual dates of their passing?

Other organisations in Britain for instance who may be interested- receive them all automatically as soon as published- as can you if you email, FIG and ask to be put on the email list

    Think,
Quite a few people pay them a sub each year, and or advertise, and not a surprise
if FIG also funds them a bit as well. But in no way does or could FIG ask them to slant or be biased in what they report.- Its only your Malvinas Dept that just tells one side of a story.
How else does a News Agency get then funds it need to run on - big or small?
