I can’t see Argentina having the money for something like this, in the foreseeable future.
And what actual use would it be to them, other than to say, we have a working sub which allows us to patrol the whole S. Atlantic undetected by the Pirates.
And thus exert our sovereignty and control over the territory.
The real scandal is the existence and maintenance of this state owned white elephant consuming billions. After disposing of their obsolete carrier Foch to serve as a status symbol, only to be sunk after colossal losses in the Atlantic, the French now manage to make more money from the not serious country with obsolete diesel submarine technology. Presumably this project again serves as a status symbol for the bloated military. Meanwhile, infrastructure, healthcare and education go begging. Get real, Brazil! She has no credible external military threats and should not pose as one to her neighbors. Focus on the economic pressures exerted by the US empire and forge trading alliances that are favorable for her exports.
The French managed to sell Argentina 5 refurbished Super Etendard fighter bombers, which had out-of-date British supplied components on them, which Argentina cannot replace and hence have never flown and don’t look like they ever will.
