Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva took part late Friday in a reception with about a thousand guests at Buckingham Palace in London, during which he exchanged a few moments with King Charles III on the eve of the latter's coronation, Agencia Brasil reported.

Before the reception, Lula met with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to discuss bilateral trade, the war in Ukraine, and environmental issues for which the British government has pledged £ 80 million.

Friday was a rehearsal day for the royal family and the organizers of the coronation of King Charles III.

And also a bit of PR, as the monarch and his son and heir Prince William got out of the car and went to greet people already camped out to see everything up close.

The sidewalks are full of tents and chairs on the route that Charles and Queen Consort Camilla will take through the streets of central London to Westminster Abbey, where the coronation ceremony will take place.

Britain no longer being the power it was in 1953, when Queen Elizabeth was crowned, Saturday's coronation will be a smaller version of that ceremony.
