‘We do not care who will govern in 2024’.

That says it all, whoever is in government in 2024 is going to have to start to pay back this ever increasing mountain of debt.

Probably without the option of borrowing more to even pay the interest on the existing debt. Credit maxed out.

Still, they can always pay the Chinese back in Lithium, at a very favourable (to the Chinese) rate of course.

As ready as I’ll ever be Mon ami, I am looking forward to the cuisine and festivities. Practicing not pronouncing the ends of words, which doesn’t work well in Cockney.

I have been in France before and am looking forward to experiencing the culture once again. I can cope with the language on a basic level, much of it is like English or Spanish, once you get your head round the pronunciations.

Except many of the modern Anglo Norman French expressions used in English today, don’t seem to make sense in modern French.

I too have the pleasure (and displeasure) of dealing with the French.
Other than the common courtesies - they understand nearly everything. (Although they consider themselves closer to GOD himself.)
